So obviously we all need to accessorize. I've been looking into getting a bag, but these manufacturers seem to jack up prices needlessly.

I want the voodoo tactical, but that's about $90 to $100. I was reading on this other forum and read about a guy using a bat bag. It got me thinking and I typed bags in amazon. Then padded bags. I came across snowboard bags. It seems they run about 1/3 of the price for probably the same or better construction. Provided they don't have all the nifty compartments one wants, I feel like I could just sew it on.

Anyone think a padded snowboard bag is feasible? Might only work for one AR until you got some kind of compartment thing made for yourself, or you could just put your mags and other things in a separate bag and throw it in the snowboard bag. That's the route I'm thinking about going. Unfortunately it's been decades since I've seen a snowboard bag.

Since everyone loves pictures here is one.

The advantage of re-purposing a sports bag is that it doesn't broadcast that you are transporting firearms. For those times I'm walking to and from the range and don't want to advertise I'm carrying a rifle, I'll use a bulldog discrete case. Sorry for the bad pics. It's late.

Another route would be to buy a electronic paino keyboard case.

Grab some needle & thread and start modifying the interior space. Better yet, search e-bay for a keyboard case that has a musical instrument brand name on it like "YAMAHA" or "Roland" on it to make it look more innocuous.

You'll get a kick out of this one. Nothing to see. Just going to play some tennis. Yup. Three light tennis rackets in there.

I get absolutely no looks carrying this bag to and from my car. While going to my car, my neighbors intercepted me and started chatting away. None of them had any clue. The trick was to carry the bag as if there are three lightweight tennis racquets in the bag. My shooting gear was in a sport duffel bag. Only when I got to the range did the firearms enthusiasts figure it out, and they started laughing.

All bags are not created equal. The more expensive cases charge for the materials and craftsmanship. A quality bag will be of heavy duty cordura with heavy duty zippers, reinforced carrying attachement points and carrying strap. The ones I bought 30 years ago still look like new.

You can get ridiculous though. I looked up the brand I bought 30 odd years ago and for less money got a Star-Lite hard case. I don't regret what I paid back when, but really!

Kinda depends what you're trying to do. If you just want a dust cover, the local awning shop could probably run something up out of canvas. If you're trying to look like you're not carrying a rifle, there are other options/directions you can go. I recently saw a case made to mimic a guitar case. Again, more money than the hard case I bought. Maybe hit the local guitar store and look at their cases.

Yea. I don't think it's the heavy duty Cordura or the materials. It's probably the extra time spent stitching materials. Kind of like how sport is so much cheaper than their other models by taking out less than a quarter of a pound.

Thanks for all the responses. That tavor looks awesome. I'm thinking about getting a ps90. I'll look into keyboard cases, but I feel the durability will be less than snowboards. Anyways this is great stuff with great ideas. I guess I just had tunnel vision on voodoo

After more research I kind of want this condor rifle case : ) I'm going to sit this on this for a few days to let the tacticool allure wear off and get something more reasonable. Costs 70 or 80 depending on single or double rifle bag

^ Even more affordable options.

I own that Condor bag you want, in the exact same color. I can attest to it being a good rifle case. It's held up through trips to the range for the past 3 or 4 years. I can't remember how long ago I bought it. For me, it was the most affordable option that had all the features I wanted.

Buy what suits your budget. I just caution you that if you buy a $40 bag that doesn't meet your expectations, you just threw $40 down the drain. You'll then go buy that $80 condor bag. Your total bag exploration cost will be $120 when you should have just spent the $80 to begin with.

Thanks Japes. What's the saying, buy once cry once.

I do like the way that condor bag looks and I like od green. I had actually come across the bags you linked but don't like their shape (I'd rather have a rectangle than a tapered rectangle)

I slept on it and japes convinced me I need to get that condor in od green and then the coyote one later.

Question is 36" or 42"? About 2$ difference. I do own an ak which is 34.25" and plan on buying more aks and ars. So the 36" should fit both. But I don't want it to be too tight of a fit? I also don't want the gun to be sliding around if it's too long?

I have the longer Voodoo 2 rifle bag... it is too long for my AR. The straps hold it in place, but I would prefer the shorter bag.

Another thing about the 2 rifle bag with the pouches like you are looking at... they are dang heavy when you load them up! :D Once I loaded it with two rifles, a couple of pistols, ammo, and little bits and pieces of range gear, I quickly understood why they came with backpack straps.

Yeah I was thinking it would get heavy. That'd probably not even counting ammo. But I just bought the double because I knew that I'd always take a minimum of 2 guns to the range.

That drago looks nice. I researched around, I was going to do amazon but they charge taxes to my state. So optics planet has 10% off plus free Shipping and no tax. Got mine for 77 $ condor double rifle od green. I was half tempted to also pick up a black one too.

Speaking of ammo, how do you guys transport it? All in that bag? I'm thinking 2 guns, pistols, mags and ammo...it's going to need to be tough

I also thought about the Molle webbing. But *** do people all need to bring?? At the point of buying more bags to put onto your bag and add more weight, I'd say it's time to buy another bag?

God dangit. This is why I should take things slower. I thought the condor bag didn't come with the 3 pouches. Turns out they do. But I've already sent in my request to cancel my order.

Oh well looks like drago it is.

36" Drago is bought. Now I'm going to do some actual housework instead of staring at the computer. Went with the 36 as my ak and ar should fit in there. Should I ever buy a larger ak or something else, I will buy the 42" bag and hope that prices don't go up even higher

When I take mine to the range, I usually put 2 ARs in it... One in 5.56mm and one .22lr. One exterior pouch holds 3 to four magazines for the 5.56 and the other holds the same for the .22lr. The third pouch holds some oil, extra shooting glasses, ear plugs, a rag, and maybe an extra box of ammo or two, etc... I will also throw a couple of pistols in it too.

Then I also have my range bag which holds more ammo, ear protection, eye protection, tools, targets, staple gun and whatever else I think I might need. If I am just shooting the rifles, I can get by with the rifle bag. If I am heading over to the pistol range or shotguns, the range bag comes along as well.

And then my son has his bag with his .22lr AR and his .22lr revolver, plus whatever else he may decide he needs to bring.
