CA Bullet Button
Going out of state (CA) and taking my AR-15 Sport which I have range fired several thousand rounds (5.56/.223) using the CA compliant 10-rnd mag. Can I use a 30-rnd mag w/o having the button removed? When I bought it the gun shop said yes and also said it's an easy fix to remove the button. I will be bringing it back to CA however, but would like to see what it feels like with a full mag...free state here I come!

Yes, you can use a large capacity magazine with the button installed. If you are returning to CA, then I wouldn't modify the rifle.

Thanks for the quick reply-it's as I thought to confirm prior advice. Except for logging-in issues, these S&W forums are the best.

As a California resident I would change out the mag release once you get to your destination so you can enjoy not only 30 rounds of fun but the freedom of dropping a mag without a tool. Takes about a minute and you can return it to California legal before you return to the state.

Or leave it installed, and not return to California
