Anyone try PMC Bronze ammunition?
I took the 2 hour trip to Cabelas and was snooping around the ammo and found this PMC bronze ammo in .223 so I picked up two boxes to try out. I was just curious what you thought of it? I haven't seen this ammo sold around here. I noticed that it says make in R.O. Korea.

PMC Bronze has been 100% reliable and as accurate as any non-match ammo in .223, 9 mm, .45 acp, and .38 special. I think you'll see fairly good reviews from users of this ammo at popular on-line sites that sell it.

I've shot several boxes of it in 380 and 9mm. It's been fine in terms of quality and reliability. Great range & target ammo at a reasonable price.

No issues with their 9mm. I am sure the other calibers share the same quality.

PMC has been around a long time. I've used it off and on since 1990 plus or minus a few years. I always thought it was of 1st class quality.
A few years ago in an ammo can under some knifes I found 2 bricks of PMC 22 LR one hollow point and one solid. I had put them there to sort of keep them out of my sons eyes Totally forgotten for 25 years.
I had found a Marlin M-25 at a smaller gun show, trash on the outside and had a good bore, I gave about 25 bucks, refinished it and glass bedded the action. Took it to the range with 4 or 5 other brands.
The high dollar target brands usually gives the best groups. I then pick the best of the cheap stuff. Ely and the others gives me an idea of the guns ability. I had taken one new CF to zero and 2 deer rifles to check.
I went to Busch Wildlife Range at St. Louis, pre deer season and they were busy, didn't think I had time for the 22 and asked Hank to do the honors on the 22. After I finished I went by Hanks zero in booth. He gave me the target, all were in the same hole. I said which brand shot this? He said PMC. I asked about the ELY and others. He said after this group we don't need to try the high dollar stuff.
PMC is alright.

Thanks for the insight on this ammo. I'll be at the range tomorrow to see how it shoots. With all the good responses I'm guessing it will be a good trip. For $7.99 for a box 20 cartridges that's pretty cheap. If all goes well I might have to make another trip for some more. Thanks again.

PMC is the retail packaging for the South Korean ammo supplier to their military. The X-Tac stuff is actually NATO spec 5.56.
PMC is one of the cheapest brass cased budget ammo. Wolf Gold isn't as good, but in the same price range.

In my experience, I've found PMC to be high quality factory ammo. Never a problem with it, and it shoots well. As a bonus, I reload, and the PMC brass is excellent for that, as well...

FYI-
There's a thread going about online purchases. I bought 10 boxes of the same round for 6.49/box.

Local shops in my area have PMC from $6.49-$7.49/box on regular basis. I have about 1,200 rounds of the 223 and about half as much of the X-Tac on hand. Both shoot fine in my Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine. Have also used the 9mm and 45 auto with same results. This is the only non-USA made ammo I will buy, when found at good prices.

Wolf Gold shoots pretty darn good in my experience, and it's ~$100 per 1000 rounds (25%) cheaper than PMC.

I've shot up lots of PMC Bronze thru different ARs over the years (Bushmaster, Colt, DD, Knights Armament, etc) and have always found it to be good, reliable stuff.

Been shooting PMC in .380 and .223 for about 4 years. Not one problem in about 1000 rounds each, not the highest but very uniform velocity. Two little niggles - I save my brass for reloading and found the .223 had a crimped primer pocket which had to be reamed before reloading and the .380 had a tarry sealer in the case mouth which was difficult to remove with normal tumbling. I had to use lacquer thinner or acetone and Q tips to get it out.

It's what Wilson Combat uses to verify their rifle accuracy prior to shipment - can't be too bad!!

Like the rest of the folks I have had good results with the PMC Bronze ammo in various calibers.
The only ammo I won't buy - believe it or not - is Fiocchi pistol ammo. Especially in 357 sig. On more than one occasion I had the bullet head fall down inside the casing. I can only speculate that there was not enough crimp applied. Also had an issue with 9mm - I think it was a feeding issue and and the pistol I was shooting at the time was taking everything else I fed it.

I just shot around 180 rounds of the .223 Saturday at the range using the PMC bronze ammo from Cabela's, no issues whatsoever with my Sport 2....
The American eagle brand has worked flawless as well...

Great day at the range. The PMC was flawless and grouped very well. I also shot Fiochii and those were very good. All were shot at 100 yards and I would say the groups were the same. I did forget my rest at home so next time I'll make sure I don't forget to bring it.

My Sport doesn't shoot well with PMC bronze or X-tac. Doesn't jam or anything, it just isn't very accurate. What little bit of Tula I shot was more accurate.

PMC Bronze is good if light-loaded plinking ammo; I've been pleased in several calibers for range work.
One nice use for PMC Bronze in .223 is that because it's such a creampuff, if your AR will reliably cycle it and mags lock back properly on empty, it's a good gauge of the rifle's reliability with a wide variety of ammo in less than ideal conditions.

FWIW, it has functioned fine in my POF Puritan (piston) and in my Sport II. I haven't shot a lot of it, but it's an ok ammo.

Must be odd pricing where you are. On WikiArms search engine Wolf Gold is only about $15 a thousand less than PMC Bronze. @$300/1000 is the lower going rate in bulk

I'll use the PMC if the range has absolutely nothing else in stock and I am dying to shoot, but there are days where I'll say "no thanks" altogether. I have only used their .38 special ammo in a few of my revolvers, and consistently have 2 issues with it. 1: the spent cases always expand and are a real pain in the *** to eject/extract, and 2: they leave yellow residue in/around the chamber (presumably the bronze). Neither of these are major issues for a range session, but really slow down both reload and cleaning time. I have not had these issues with any other brand of ammo I have tried thus far.
Edit: just realized this thread had more emphasis on .223. Cannot comment on their performance in semi-autos.

I've shot PMC in .380, 9mm, 40, 45ACP, and 223 with no problems. As far as .223/5.56 goes my PSA AR 15 shoots most anything and accuracy is very close with all of it. The only issue I've had with the PMC Bronze is failing to lock the bolt back on the last round but most 223 ammo will do the same as it's set up for 5.56 which is primarily what I shoot. Otherwise the PMC is good stuff.

Don't know who "Lax" or "Rare" ammo on WikiArms are, but check out their shipping rates.
Either way, I was basing my comment on SG who offer free shipping most of the time and 4-pay for 0% interest, as I stated. Not sure how that's related to where I am....

$35 price differential, not $100 Just saying.
For that matter, I'd rather get Independence Ammo from Palmetto State Armory Independence 5.56 NATO 55gr FMJ Ammunition 20rds - XM193I - Rifle Ammunition - Ammunition
About the same price as Wolf Gold, but Israeli Military Industries NATO ammo. Dang good stuff.

I've shot a good bit of PMC Bronze in both my AR and my bolt action .223. It works fine in both rifles. It isn't the most accurate ammo in my safe but it isn't the worst either. I shoot it for plinking ammo and it does pretty well. I've shot a lot more of it through my bolt action and it shoots fairly tight groups at 400 yards. It may shoot farther but I have no place to test it at longer distances.

For the record, I believe the US/NATO spec is 2 MOA in a stock Colt M4 battle rifle. Wolf Gold isn't NATO spec, it might be better, it might be worse. PMC X-TAC IS NATO ammo in retail package. The 62 grain is M855 ammo with a SS109 bullet. Works very well in my brother-in-law's DPMS Varmit model.
PMC Bronze might be NATO FMJ stuff that didn't meet spec. Maybe lower or higher pressure, maybe too much variation batch to batch, whatever.

A little late to the party on this but i picked up a few boxes of it to try out. this was my first range day with the M&P and first AR i've ever shot. three boxes no FTE/FTF standing unsupported i did decently at 25 yards. well under a fist sized group. I would have pictures but my phone ran out of juice.

No problem with function, unless you put accuracy under function. My Sport doesn't group very well with it, shooting less accurately than it does with XM855 or Tula.
Other AR does fine, though, so I'd still pick some up if on sale.

I have used it in .308 150 grain fmj and put three rounds thru the same hole at 100 yards.
I kinda like it.

Sure. SGAmmo sells PMC sells Bronze .223 by the 1000 for $309.
PMC also makes what they call X-TAC which is 5.56 M193 and M855 for $339 / $359.

I have ran thru a few cases of this ammo without issue.
I have 3 AR's one heavy barrel 20" set up with good glass and I have no problem shooting 1" moa with this 55 grain fmj, and that's thru a 1.9 twist, the other two are m4 variants with open sights and have no problem in these short guns
I have not bought any of there heavier grain bullets, but that is because I bought up a pretty good supply of the bronze when I could get it for 280 per 1000
in fact my high school senior grandson and three of his friends from high school are on spring break and are at the hunting camp on the farm, as I type.
the first thing they wanted to shoot yesterday were the AR's and they went thru at least 200 rounds yesterday afternoons, and will probably shoot the rest of the case that I opened yesterday, before they leave on wed.
reloadable brass at same price as steel Russian stuff cant be beat as far as range ammo.
its not been that long ago I saw a case of this sell for $1000 during the drought $1 per round

I shoot PMC's, not issues shooting them with my AR or 9mm. Especially like the price at the local Cabelas for .223's--$6.99 for 20 rounds, so I bought all 25 boxes they had on the shelf. But I use different rounds for coyotes and prairie dogs though.
