Anyone try PMC Bronze ammunition?

I just shot around 180 rounds of the .223 Saturday at the range using the PMC bronze ammo from Cabela's, no issues whatsoever with my Sport 2....
The American eagle brand has worked flawless as well...

Great day at the range. The PMC was flawless and grouped very well. I also shot Fiochii and those were very good. All were shot at 100 yards and I would say the groups were the same. I did forget my rest at home so next time I'll make sure I don't forget to bring it.

My Sport doesn't shoot well with PMC bronze or X-tac. Doesn't jam or anything, it just isn't very accurate. What little bit of Tula I shot was more accurate.

PMC Bronze is good if light-loaded plinking ammo; I've been pleased in several calibers for range work.

One nice use for PMC Bronze in .223 is that because it's such a creampuff, if your AR will reliably cycle it and mags lock back properly on empty, it's a good gauge of the rifle's reliability with a wide variety of ammo in less than ideal conditions.

FWIW, it has functioned fine in my POF Puritan (piston) and in my Sport II. I haven't shot a lot of it, but it's an ok ammo.

Wolf Gold shoots pretty darn good in my experience, and it's ~$100 per 1000 rounds (25%) cheaper than PMC.

Must be odd pricing where you are. On WikiArms search engine Wolf Gold is only about $15 a thousand less than PMC Bronze. @$300/1000 is the lower going rate in bulk

I'll use the PMC if the range has absolutely nothing else in stock and I am dying to shoot, but there are days where I'll say "no thanks" altogether. I have only used their .38 special ammo in a few of my revolvers, and consistently have 2 issues with it. 1: the spent cases always expand and are a real pain in the *** to eject/extract, and 2: they leave yellow residue in/around the chamber (presumably the bronze). Neither of these are major issues for a range session, but really slow down both reload and cleaning time. I have not had these issues with any other brand of ammo I have tried thus far.

Edit: just realized this thread had more emphasis on .223. Cannot comment on their performance in semi-autos.

I've shot PMC in .380, 9mm, 40, 45ACP, and 223 with no problems. As far as .223/5.56 goes my PSA AR 15 shoots most anything and accuracy is very close with all of it. The only issue I've had with the PMC Bronze is failing to lock the bolt back on the last round but most 223 ammo will do the same as it's set up for 5.56 which is primarily what I shoot. Otherwise the PMC is good stuff.

Don't know who "Lax" or "Rare" ammo on WikiArms are, but check out their shipping rates.

Either way, I was basing my comment on SG who offer free shipping most of the time and 4-pay for 0% interest, as I stated. Not sure how that's related to where I am....

Wolf Gold .223 Ammo, FMJ, 55 Grain, 1,000 Rounds - 292056, .223 Remington Ammo at Sportsman's Guide

1,000 rounds PMC .223 5.56x45mm 55 Grain FMJ-BT Ammo - 222826, .223 (5.56x45mm) Ammo at Sportsman's Guide

$35 price differential, not $100 Just saying.

For that matter, I'd rather get Independence Ammo from Palmetto State Armory Independence 5.56 NATO 55gr FMJ Ammunition 20rds - XM193I - Rifle Ammunition - Ammunition

About the same price as Wolf Gold, but Israeli Military Industries NATO ammo. Dang good stuff.

I've shot a good bit of PMC Bronze in both my AR and my bolt action .223. It works fine in both rifles. It isn't the most accurate ammo in my safe but it isn't the worst either. I shoot it for plinking ammo and it does pretty well. I've shot a lot more of it through my bolt action and it shoots fairly tight groups at 400 yards. It may shoot farther but I have no place to test it at longer distances.

For the record, I believe the US/NATO spec is 2 MOA in a stock Colt M4 battle rifle. Wolf Gold isn't NATO spec, it might be better, it might be worse. PMC X-TAC IS NATO ammo in retail package. The 62 grain is M855 ammo with a SS109 bullet. Works very well in my brother-in-law's DPMS Varmit model.

PMC Bronze might be NATO FMJ stuff that didn't meet spec. Maybe lower or higher pressure, maybe too much variation batch to batch, whatever.

A little late to the party on this but i picked up a few boxes of it to try out. this was my first range day with the M&P and first AR i've ever shot. three boxes no FTE/FTF standing unsupported i did decently at 25 yards. well under a fist sized group. I would have pictures but my phone ran out of juice.

No problem with function, unless you put accuracy under function. My Sport doesn't group very well with it, shooting less accurately than it does with XM855 or Tula.
Other AR does fine, though, so I'd still pick some up if on sale.

I have used it in .308 150 grain fmj and put three rounds thru the same hole at 100 yards.

I kinda like it.

Sure. SGAmmo sells PMC sells Bronze .223 by the 1000 for $309.

PMC also makes what they call X-TAC which is 5.56 M193 and M855 for $339 / $359.

I have ran thru a few cases of this ammo without issue.

I have 3 AR's one heavy barrel 20" set up with good glass and I have no problem shooting 1" moa with this 55 grain fmj, and that's thru a 1.9 twist, the other two are m4 variants with open sights and have no problem in these short guns

I have not bought any of there heavier grain bullets, but that is because I bought up a pretty good supply of the bronze when I could get it for 280 per 1000

in fact my high school senior grandson and three of his friends from high school are on spring break and are at the hunting camp on the farm, as I type.

the first thing they wanted to shoot yesterday were the AR's and they went thru at least 200 rounds yesterday afternoons, and will probably shoot the rest of the case that I opened yesterday, before they leave on wed.

reloadable brass at same price as steel Russian stuff cant be beat as far as range ammo.

its not been that long ago I saw a case of this sell for $1000 during the drought $1 per round
