Just bought my second M&P 15.
$499.99 free shipping.
I have shot the **** out of the first one with zero problems. Adding a Magpul forestock, milspec butt stock, Rise Armament RA434 trigger and Geissley charging handle. Great value in an AR. Be prepared because 2020 is coming.

Unless things have changed, the stock on the M&P 15s are milspec dimension, not commercial. And if it is commercial spec as you state, you can't simply buy a milspec stock and put it on there... you would have to replace the receiver extension (buffer tube) as well.
Milspec stocks have play in them, simply from being adjustable. To take the slop out, simply put some duct tape on the receiver extension to make the stock a bit tighter.

I changed it and it worked for me. Nothing added. Perfect fit.

Glad you are happy, but the S&W stock is milspec dimensions. Aftermarket stocks like Magpul will sometimes fit a little tighter than the standard M4 style buttstock, but that doesn't mean that the standard M4 stock that came with your rifle is commercial dimensions.
What you are saying is that S&W used a milspec dimension receiver tube and topped it with a commercial dimension stock. If their QC was that bad, I wouldn't even trust the rest of the rifle.

First time at the range with it today. The sights are a little right and high on this one.
