I think the last time I was inside an Academy store was several years ago to try on a pair of Reeboks...I wanted to verify the size fit before I ordered from Amazon at less than half the price......Ben

That was the first step that Dick's took before they quit carrying all firearms, firearm accessories and hunting gear.

I see no mention of a new CEO in their press releases. You sure about this?

AR’s have been out of Academy’s for many months now - not a recent change.

I haven't seen ARs in Academy since before Covid. Nothing new around here.

I know that Academy is the place to go to get a new pair of slide sandals or a yoga mat.

I wouldn't buy any gun from the Academy in my town, AFAIC they can quit selling them altogether. I believe Moe and Rosewood and Huthike are probably correct, Academy will go the route of Dick's eventually, and the most dangerous sporting item you'll be able to buy is a treble fishhook.

BAN TREBLE HOOKS!!!!
I think all fish hooks should be limited by law to have only one barb. Real fishermen don't need full automatic multiple barbs to catch fish. Save the children!

Parents don't teach their kids anything any more. They should be banned from running with scissors and drinking from the garden hose. I even know a father who bought his sons a GUN when they were only 7 years old.

Shameful.

Parents don’t teach their kids anything, because they weren’t taught anything by their parents…

Seems we had a thread recently that turned a little ugly on the topic out-of-staters moving into your community. This example just solidifies why I personally don't appreciate those fleeing blue states landing in my community, because they bring their blue ticks and fleas with them.

Not saying that this is the case, but you'd be surprised how much weight "soccer mom" complaints carry. They were responsible for closing a public indoor range around here that had been in use since around 1939!

That's nuthin'.
I wasn't allowed to own a firearm until I graduated high school.
Made for a lousy childhood in a rural town when all my friends owned them.
I made up for it though, so that by the time I entered the service I shot expert marksman out of basic.
Plinking is still my favorite pass time at 66 and if Academy doesn't want to sell me a firearm someone else will.
