Hello-
New to the forum- want to put a laser on my .40 VE.

I found the thread about gear for sigmas, and the LaserLyte FSR-00V2-140 is the universal, miniture laser that is listed there. It can also be purchased as a kit with a tac lite from a couple different websites I found for about 150, including the laser/ lite & sigma adapter that is required for our guns.

I would like to get peoples feedback who have actually used this product. I found 1 positve review with google- but 2 others that really were negative-

One stating that the laser & switch were intermitent after use- and that the laser would inexplicably go dim for no reason. It sounds like this guy got a lemon of a unit- but it did make me leary.

The other negative post stated that it would go out of adjustment after just 3-4 rounds.

Can someone who has the Laserlyte Universal & adapter on their Sigma provide more info please ?

Additionally, if anyone has expirence with other laser site / lite combo, etc- I would like to hear from you as well.

Thanks

Thankyou Lee. Good to be here. Love the sigma so far.

My Sigma was made in 08'- & only had about 50 rounds through it. The trigger was tight, so I did the trigger mods my self- removed the pigtail & the outer sear spring. Keeping them safe in case I start to get Failure to Fire as the round count increases.

It seems that each gun really has its own personality as far as machining tolerances and spring tension rates. Some take less spring and shoot and re-cock perfectly with light or less springs, while others really need heavier spring pressures to continue to work properly.

So far my round count is only 100 or so- so rounds and time will tell if the one remaining spring in my sigma- the inner sear spring- weakens over time to the point of becoming unreliable.

As someone who has raced many, many forms of motor vehicles I am all to familair with springs actually wearing out to the point of becoming much weaker and delivering a really mushy ride feel, and failing to hold spring preload settings.

With racing suspensions- as the spring wears- you can begin to compensate SOMEWHAT for this with your Shock's hydralic compression and rebound dampening adjustments- and by frequently re-adjusting your spring preload. However, after a certain point the spring is shot- and must be replaced.

In the Sigma- we have no dampening or spring preload adjusters, so those of us who have lightened triggers by removing all but the single inner sear spring must keep spring wear in mind.

This is especially true if you shoot your single spring Sigma alot- as the more compressions on the spring the faster its spring rate (strength) will be reduced.

If you plan on taking your Sigma into battle- it would probably be wise to re-install the factory set-up, or at least make sure you have a fresh inner sear spring if you choose to run this set-up for work-carry purposes.

We're glad you joined!

My sigma is stock and sweet! I like it allot.

If you get a chance, please cast your vote in some of the polls.

Thanks for sharing your stories with us. The sigma club is the best place on the internet for sigma owners to hang out. Bunch of great people here!

Best wishes,

Lee

Not familiar with that laser, but I do have one on mine. It's made by a forum member here TDR911. No adapter required, it's made for the Sigma and at a reasonable price.
Here are a couple of pics.
And welcome to the forum.

Offshore1V, The wife has the FSR-00V2-140 on her Sigma.
When I first installed it I had the same problems you mention. The light would go dim, not shut off, etc etc.

I called Laserlyte and spoke with customer service (928-649-3201). They were very helpful in explaining that the factory does/did not tighten the Allen head screws on the right side of the on/off switch. (Seems to be a problem area) They will send you the correct size Allen wrench so you can tighten the screws. We have approximately 150 rounds through the Sigma with the laser attached and have had no problems with the sight going out of adjustment. Could be the folks complaining got a sight without any locktight glue on the elevation or windage screws, ours was just the opposite, the adjustment screws were really really tight:confused:

My only beef with the V2-140 is finding a concealed carry holster to fit the weapon with the laser attached.
Other than that I’m impressed with the Sigma for what it cost.

p.s. welcome to the forum:)

I have been using this exact set up for 8 months now with no problems at all, (came with the needed wrenches) i don't really know what to say, except I would buy another one for my next sigma...if it ain't broke, and works fine, why not?

Welcome to the forum Offshore1V.
There are many different options out there. Each person will like one brand or another for various reasons.
As for the intermitant switch I am sure Laser Lyte would take care of a replacement.
I am also in the racing business. Things do break, and issues do pop up. Especially when the manufacturer of the laser unit is someone else.
I use my Sigma as a boat gun. Stainless and cheap if it goes down with the mothership.

Just curious. What forms of racing were you involved in??? I have been in the high performance 2 stroke business since 1973.
