New 9ve and trigger pin problems
I purchased my 9ve from a local gun smith / store for 400 on the 31st. (I know, don't rub it in )
After cleaning, shooting around 100 rounds, cleaning it again and doing dry fire pulls with my snap caps I noticed my trigger pin was backing out a few MM's. This was pushed back in by me, by my thumb. a few more days of dry fire practice and I noticed it did it again. I decided to take it to the shop I bought it at no more then 2 weeks ago.
The smith there said he would take a look at it and if its just a problem with the pin he would cover it under his warranty. If it was something larger then he'd give me a call.
now why would I want to pay to have a firearm serviced that I just bought from you 2 weeks ago?
not a happy camper. If it is covered by their warranty I'd still have to pay a labor charge.. not pleased one bit. I know I could of just kept an eye on it and pushed it back in whenever I seen it wiggling loose. But it is my first handgun and better safe then sorry.
Oh a lighter note I purchased the ABC's of Reloading and am enjoying my first steps into the world of the Reloading clans.
thanks for listening to my rant, I feel better now.

Suggest you read the part of your factory manual about the lifetime S&W warranty and then give S&W a call. They also pay shipping both ways.
I think you've enjoyed that dealer more than I could stand.

I agree with OK. Check with S&W and see what they say.

yea i read the manual and am aware even If I hadn't, from all of the times its mentioned on this forum I've learned about SW's lifetime warranty. I just figured he would take a look at it right then and there, put a new pin in and say, "here give this a try." not "well come back in 2 weeks.." Yea I had a range time today as well but guess not.
but alas, live n learn then get hugs.

got a call from the smith shop and he informed me that " the pin was at 180 degrees when they put it in, and they put it in upside down. "
I get the upside down part, not notching up and being able to slide. *** is with the temp tho.

from his lips to your ears buddy.
I have no knowledge of anything involving gun smithing as of this posting..to consumed in learning all I can about reloading, before I buy a press. perhaps in my off hours of reloading reading I could pick up a book or two on smithing, to better understand what the above post was about.

The trigger pin has a reduced area, a ring if you will, cut into it near where the trigger return spring loops around, which is offset from the center. It locks the pin in place, and if the pin is flipped, the locking groove won't engage, so the pin works out as described.

how did the above post become ezier to understand then "the pin was upside down."
I picked it up today and fired around 100 rounds through it. no problems, covered under their warranty so no cost to me either. good deal all in all.

It's hard for something to be upside down when there is no right side up.The retention ring on the pin is offset from center but it is symmetrical. The pin can be put in backwards but not upside down. My problem was the way they explained it to you,not in the way you passed it on.

ah ic..
well I took it to the range yesterday and put 100 rounds through it, no problems. I do dry fire from concealed every time i go to smoke . ( i don't smoke in the house ) and no problems with that yet either.
It was completely covered under their warranty so no cost to me at all which is a plus.
