Duty Holster for S&W SD40
I recently started an armed security job part time for a little side cash in addition to my normal job. Until I get my next firearm(Sig P226) I need a duty holster for my S&W SD40. I've looked around and almost nobody makes a holster for it. Now, I'm a custom holster maker and make great IWB holsters, but I don't have the resources to make a retention system like the Serpa or G-Code holsters.
I really like the G-Code holsters because of their modular ability. I have heard that the SD will fit in an M&P holster pretty well. Does anybody have any experience with this and if so is it true? If my SD will sit in an M&P holster well then I am going to get the G-Code M&P holster.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Duty Holster for SD
I have a SD .40 and SD .9mm - both are great guns and I'm a Glock fan, so that is really a testimonial for the SD's! That said, a Blackhawnk Serpa holster for the Smith & Wesson M&P will fit perfectly, I know because that is what I am using for my SD's. My son owns a HK USP .40 and I tried my SD and it fit fine in his holster as well (Bladetech kydex holster molded for the HK). That gives you two options......

That helps me too. I have just ordered an SD9 and heard that the Serpa holsters will work and will now order a LEV3.
I have been carrying a .45 for years, but after carpal tunnel surgery the recoil was a little painful A buddy let me shoot his SD9 at the range the other day and it was love at first shot. minimal recoil and so very accurate. 16 rounds in a single ragged hole at 10 yards. I was never that accurate with my 4516-2.
You may want a SIG 226, but after many years of carrying a .45, I realized that with that kind of accuracy from the weapon, a 9MM will do me just fine. Plus, it's easier to carry off-duty....just my 2 cents.....

Well the Sig P226 is available in 9mm, .40S&W, .357sig, and .45ACP so I have alot of leeway.

Holsters that fit the Sigma would likely fit the SD. Look for duty holsters for the Sigma.

I'm going to buy the Blackhawk Serpa CQC this weekend. Where can I get the best price? I want all black. Some ads say gunmetal gray.

I would try Amazon. They seem to have the best prices. I looked and they range from 25 dollars to 130 dollars. Beats wasting gas for the store not to have the holster or they sold out.

The blackhawk serpa line has one to fit the SD series weapons. And yes, try amazon. Sportsmans warehouse in my town has them on the shelf for 50 bucks, amazon and eBay has them for 20.. but it was the knock off.

I bought the Serpa CQC today. I bought the one for the M&P. It was 43.99 at my LGS but I wanted it now. It fits my SD40VE perfectly. I attached the paddle to it. I canted it forward in the first position. I put it on after work and I've been walking around the house quick drawing. This holster really stays put. It looks good and functions exactly like it is supposed to. I am happy with my purchase.
