UPDATE:SD9 tritium sight is dead
Got the pistol back yesterday, had problem with FFL- wanted a transfer form, which I never heard of for a repair return. Called S&W, they called the FFL, and 5 minutes later the FFL called and said 'you can pick up your pistol now.' I'm not surpised, but they kept the gun only 4 business days, and stuck with it til I was satisfied. Good folks. Going to shoot tomorrow, will update then.
Only had this pistol two months, the tritium was probably dead from day one, but I never thought to check until last week. Took it into the bathroom and sure enough, not a thing. Question since I've never dealt with S&W Customer Service before- think they'll just send me another sight? or would I need to send it back? I'm not hard to get along with, but not sure I can install the new one. I'm reasonably handy around the house, but never worked on sights, and wouldn't wanta screw it up.

dead sight
Call S&W customer service for a shipping tag.
I think it's much safer to use a sight pusher for tritium sights.
If you damage a new sight they might not send a second free one.
Good Luck

Customer Service?!
I submitted a thread yesterday about my new- 2 months old- SD9 and that the tritium sight was dead. I was suggested I call CS and get a shipping label, so I just did, and spoke to a young woman named Jenny. Told her my tritium was dead, and she says "So you wanta buy a new sight?" I said no maam, I just bought the pistol, and the sight was dead when I got it. She says "well, you want me to send you anew one? It'll be $34.85.' I told her again, it's anew pistol, I registered it online in July. "But you stil have to pay for the sight." Try to make a long story short- I finally got thru to her it was under warranty, she took my serial #, and then my name and address. I asked if she was sending me a label and she said no, a sight, you said you wanted a sight. I finally get thru that I do not wish to install it myself, and she tells me she is sending me a sight, and I asked then what? I send the sight back to you to install it?? And she said "Yes." I tried to explain, why don't I send YOU the pistol, you put a new sight on it, and send it back? "You said you wanted a sight, I'm sending you a new one. When you get it, put it in a box, send it to us, with the pistol, and we will install it."
Sorry for the long story, but, am I outa my mind, or is this pretty ignorant?

Not at all typical of the Customer Service "I" have had at S&W. I would have asked to speak to a supervisor as there seemed to be a very glaring communication break down.
Last weekend I was using my M&P PRO 9 in a USPSA match and the fron fiber optic flew off the gun in mid-stage. I call Smith on Monday AM and explained it to them....my rep. said " No problem, let me send you a three pack" He did offer to have me return the slide only and have them install it for me. However, I had him send the pack of rods and I will install.

I'm new here, if it doesn't show, I had no idea a post on the Sigma/SD forum would also appear here and vice versa. I'll learn...

I bought my sd9 in January. My sight also went dead after a week or so. I called customer service. Was mailed a postage paid label.
They asked me to include a short letter explaining the issue. In the letter I mentioned some light strikes and asked if they could let me know how much it would cost to add night sights to the back also.
Threeish weeks later I got the gun back with a new striker assembly and new front AND rear night sights at no charge.
It's been another 6ish months now at about 100 rounds a month at the range and not a misfire yet and the new sights are dead on.
I'd rate S&W customer service A+++

Welcome!
This is the Sigma/SD forum. Your two posts were merged because they concerned the same issue. A temporary redirect was left in the SA Pistols forum.

UPDATE- After the young lady insisted on sending me the new sight I did as suggested, and the next day S&W emailed me an address label. Packed up the pistol and dropped of at FedEx the next day. The online customer service request was much more effcetive than the phone call. Will let you know what happens.
I went to shoot the SD9 one more time that same day, and lo & behold it reminded me, the ejected shells- almost every single one- land on top of my head, and one even hit my glasses. So I included that issue with the dead tritium.

Went and fired about 75 rounds yesterday, smooth as silk. The tritium sight glows, rounds ejected to the side. You guys were dead on, 8-9 days and fixed completely. BTW, fired outside instead of at my indoor range, so finally got to rapid-fire- fired two 17-rd magazines in about 15 seconds..not only smooth....but fun.
