Default Copterdrvr the genious: striker block off-center contact

Owned more than a few poly/striker pistols, but am not really sure how they work. The Ruger SR-series is pretty much maintenance-free (own an SR9), but my problems with my new SD9VE have me on a rapid learning curve. Reading copterdrvr's response in the "New SD...Failure to fire..." thread, I took his advice and removed the magazine and looked up inside while pulling the trigger. Sure enough, my SD is passing over the inner edge of the plunger pushing the assembly (and the frame) outward. Never one to leave well enough alone,I took the slide off the lower and pulled the trigger back and with a pair of large needle nose plyers (the trigger assembly is very rigid when fully depressed and less likely to bend anything you don't want to bend) bent the bar inward so that it's purchase of the plunger is dead center and not the inner edge. Guess what? The frame barely flexes with the trigger depressed and (most startling) the trigger pull is clearly more smooth and lighter. I did the pencil test and the striker is still working. Can't wait to shoot it even with the fractured tab on the striker assembly.
