I have a sigma 40, with the apex mods and polish.
I just put the new poly trigger in and returned slide to frame, put it battery and the trigger won't release. I have tried to remove slide, it seems to bind up on return spring of the barrel. It won't release from its slide release . I have taken the gun down many times to clean it as well as upgrade the springs and polish parts,
Any ideas? Thank you.

Sounds you can not pull the trigger and get thesear to release the striker so the slide could be removed.

Try lifting up on the rear of the slide while pulling the trigger and see if the sear will release. If it does go through standard breakdown prcedures.

If that does not release the sear I am not sure what you can do to get the sear to release. Im sure someone here does though.

And just for clarification is this and SW40 or SD 40?

I'm not able to get the trigger to release the sear so the slide will not release, I'm guessing The captured spring slide off the barrel and is jamming the slide?

Ouch! That sounds like a different problem.

I did some checking on that and the only solution I found involved hitting the back of the slide on the floor to line the slide and the frame up and then pulling the trigger while holding the Take down lever down and the slide should come off.

Not sure I would try that with my gun though or if it would even work. So for the record I do not recommend that. Hopefully someone will be along that knows more than me and can help you.

Can you put the slide in the rearmost position and lock it open? Or is is stuck as in it wont move either direction?

Yes the gun locks back and releases fine, I can release the slide and "unlock" the slide, however it will only move forward about 1/2" before it starts to bind and hits a stop to go no further, this is when you would normally pull the trigger and release slide, the new apex trigger will not release the sear.

It's time to call APEX and ask for their help. The recoil spring will not cause this in any way I know of; recoil spring misalignment jams on the way putting the slide ONTO the frame.
If the gun will not dry (or wet) fire, you have an expensive club.

yup like stated above this is not caused by the recoil spring it is caused by the sear engaging with the striker.

Try this...

"If you install your trigger into your SD and it does not engage sear, try to squeeze your frame on the side of where the trigger bar is. You will squeeze right where it says "Capable of firing" while your finger is holding the trigger. If once the trigger is installed and it does not fire until you press on that spot, then you need to do this OR call Apex and ask them what they would like for you to do. "

Thank you to those who offered help, woke up at 4:300 mad because I could not figure this out, the main reason I really like my sigma is it is a KISS weapon, fun to shoot easy to understand.
I was able to remove the back slide cover while still on the gun, and remove the firing pin and springs. Release the slide and off she came. Now back to figure out why I had no trigger break.
Thanks again.

See the thread I linked above it should fix your issue.

Yep, got that one thanks.
Spent my morning , fitting the trigger to my frame.
I had done spring mods before this and shot about 2000 round of reloads, so I was comfortable with the stock trigger. Trigger broke at about 6-6.9lbs. Going to local range now and see if there is much improvement. Dry firing, I noticed the trigger breaks at the end of pull. The take up has not changed.
Thanks.

Glad to hear you got it working.

Enjoy your new trigger.
