Took the new SD for a test drive this morning!
Guys, I could write a lengthy report, but I feel no need to do so. Unfortunately, I have no pictures to show, but here goes anyway.
This gun is fan-freaking-tastic! That is the bottom line!
The simplicity of it, the amazing ergos and it hits POA.
I sent about 100 rounds of UMC 9mm down the pipe.
I love the trigger as is!
Fantastic!

-This line of pistols is nothing short of a winner! Glad you finally got the chance to give it a dance. I was telling a guy I work with about mine. He picked up a Kel-Tec PM9 a month ago, but hasn't been overly excited about it. Doesn't hate it, just kind of meh... He stopped at the shop where I bought mine and just about fell in love with the SD9 VE that was in the case. He loved how it fit his hand and how it seemed to aim itself. He may just start saving his pennies now...

Matt

I'm happy as a pig in the mud right now. Before I bought the sigma, I had plenty of revolver time under my belt so I never did get all the complaining and enjoyed every minute with it. I don't need a 3lb trigger to shoot a decent target and I didn't buy this one to be a target gun, they sure make guns with better triggers for that. If this gun is anything like the sigma (and it certainly is), it will just keep shooting and shooting.
The only thing that I'm not 100% happy about is the tiny take-down thingies, they should have made those a little bigger during the design phase of the SD.
The SD is comfortable and easy to shoot for me, I'm very pleased.

-The only 1911A1's I shot was during basic in the Army. Those things were so beat up, you had to smack the rear of the slide with the palm of your hand to get them back into battery. I think the armorers peened the slide rails too much from them being so worn out. So while I've shot a bit of SA and DA/SA semi-auto, most of my handgun time was with revolvers too. Nothing wrong at all with the trigger pull.

Matt

Awesome Chief, I don't understand all the bad mouthing of this gun. They are well made, mine has ate everything I have fed it. If a person does not like the trigger there are fixes for it. On a side note one of the guys at the firehouse that was looking at a Glock 19 texted me yesterday that he's more then likely buying an SD9VE.

-Could be brand or model snobbing, or even buyer's remorse. You know. Someone who spent way more money on a certain pistol, then found out they could have gotten an SD9/40 VE for a lot less. Now they have to justify the lower price of our pistols. They just have to be junk, right???

Matt

I will admit that I was skeptical about the sigma/sw/SD and all. Then I shot one.. I now own that same gun and enjoy it more every time I shoot. SD9VE

LOL! I've been saying that for years!
The SD and Sigma's are what they are, but they're the best $300 on the planet!

The Galloway plate is tapered, that is wider at the bottom than at the top, and feels better and grips better. The Glock model was $9 shipped on Amazon, so it was cheaper.
A note about that: Galloway's price on their website is $12, but shipping costs $6.95. I questioned them on this, since this part is so small and light, it could easily be mailed 1st class for much cheaper. They said no, they didn't ship 1st class. I was looking on Amazon and found the exact part, sold from Galloway Precision themselves, for $15 and free shipping...and it came via 1st class mail.
It's not much of a savings, but still...in my old age, I'm getting cheaper. It has a lot to do with living on a fixed income (is it a "fixed" income if you are "broke" most of the time?)
