Default SDVE .40 HOLSTERS

Hello all, and Welcome!
I wanted to give those who've asked a breakdown of what holsters for which purpose go with the S&W SDVE .40

Without further discussion, here we go!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
THE SDVE .40 FITS THE Smith and Wesson M&P 9/40 HOLSTERS WITHOUT THUMB SAFETY...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duty Holsters: The M&P .40 (Size 25) is supposed to fit the SDVE40. BLACKHAWK HOLSTERS: SIZE 25.
Safariland Holsters: sells a Level 3 Retention Duty Holster but you need to pick from several choices, and make sure it fits the S&W M&P 40 without thumb safety.

CCW holsters:
There are two I could see using, the second is my personal recommendation.
1. Blackhawk Paddle Holster Level 1 - Google search SIZE 25
2. Blackhawk Paddle Holster Level 2 - SERPA Sporster CQC SIZE 25 Level 2 Retention is why I'd choose it.

I use the SERPA CQC Sportster Holster for my SDVE .40 without any issues. I like the level 2 retention, it holds firmly, as expected, fits like a glove and is still an easy draw. I'm not sure how I like the level one retention screw, I'm still adjusting it, it seems a little too loose for my taste.

At Xmas, I intend to get a level 3 duty holster from Safariland (ALS 6380) and use it as my duty weapon.

I've got a Blackhawk serpa that I got at Walmart for $25. It's a great holster. Easy to draw from and you're not getting the gun out without pushing the release tab

I've got an On Your 6 Designs OWB for my SD9VE. I love it. They also make IWB.

I carry my SD40VE in my Raw Dog IWB holster. Made specifically for the SD40VE and very comfortable to carry.

Matt
