Enjoy the chuckle, but please help if you can.
After cleaning my Ruger LCP, I reached for my S&W SW9VE. The Ruger has a take-down pin. When I started on the SW9VE I instinctively popped out the pin instead of its take-down catch. That was actually the trigger pin.
Now I can't remove the slide. I tried reinserting the trigger pin, but haven't found the right alignment with the parts that I can't see.
Help please! What's another way to disassemble the SW9VE?

Maybe if you could get the slide end cap off and get the striker and spring out it would release the slide. I don't really know how to do that with the slide stuck without damaging the end cap. Maybe time for a gunsmith. Good luck.

If you can retract the slide far enough, removing the slide end plate
would be the easiest way to go. Check youtube etc for removing striker
from Glock--same process.

If slide won't retract, don't try to force the end plate off.

If you drive out the pin that retains the sear assembly--should be the
pin closest to non-muzzle end of the grip frame--that should give you
some wiggle-room to clear the striker from sear, and let the slide off.

Thank you for your replies Steve912 and staylor. I did get trigger spring out and was considering removal of the end plate, but wasn't sure how to pry it out of place. However, the following advice from GKC did the trick:
"I've read about this same problem before, and I think it is your recoil rod assembly that is binding. If you didn't get it back in the right position when reassembling it, it can drop down and bind the slide. I've tried searching for the thread that I read before, and I can't find it.

If I remember correctly, the person who had this problem before did several things. One, hold the pistol upside down, and try pulling back on the slide and pulling forward on the barrel, and see if that might free it up. Another thing is to pull down on the take down levers, so that they are in the most downward position, pull the trigger and keep it pulled, and see if you can remove the slide (this takes some manipulation, unless someone can help you.) The thing is, if the recoil rod assembly has come off, it may be wedged between the barrel and frame.

I've also read that one person took out the striker (you can get to it with the slide fully retracted) but that may or may not solve this particular problem."
