SD40 (non VE) model parts/schematics

SD40 and VE are the same just different color

The only differences between the SD40 and SD40VE are the slide finish and the sights.
Specifically, VE stands for "Value Enhanced" which means that it's the cheaper, economy model with a bare Stainless Steel slide and plain 3 Dot plastic sights, whereas the non-VE model has a Black Melonite finish on the slide and Fiber Optic or Tritium Sights.
In other words, they're the same gun, with full parts interchangeability between the two.
That being said, beware the similarly named SW40VE, which is the last generation variant which takes different sights and has slightly different dimensions.

They're basically the same gun. Parts will interchange. The SD is more sought after because it doesn't have that cheesy looking SS colored slide.

Although I used to prefer either full black or stainless, I've actually grown fond of the two-tone look over the years.
Both my SW40VE and my Ruger LCP are duo-tone.
Been there, done that, with an SW9VE, SW40VE, SD9VE, SD40VE.
I couldn't get rid of them fast enough!
