SD40 Threaded Barrel

I hope this hasn't been posted already and I have just overlooked it but I am trying to find a threaded barrel for my SD40 VE. I thought about welding on an extension but I don't know if it will clear the slide during disassembly. Does anyone know if this barrel can be replaced with another model that has threads 5/8 24tpi? I don't know what to do in this case.

I was looking for one too about a year ago and I searched like crazy, but I couldn't find anyone who makes a threaded barrel for the SD40. There was a limited run on threaded barrels for the SD9, but never the SD40.

Furthermore, despite what some might say, neither a Glock 23 nor an M&P40 barrel will fit/function in an SD40, regardless of what generation it's from, I looked into that thoroughly as well. Despite the similarities between the Sigma Series and the older generation Glocks and M&Ps, the barrels are not interchangeable. They look almost identical at a glance, but there's just enough difference being the locking lugs and recoil spring assemblies that they don't actually function, nor can they be made to function with any minor modifications.

I searched around earlier when I 1st saw your post & only came up with a 9mm SD9/SD9VE @ Apex but nothing else

I read in another thread just going threw them all that some earlier SW9/40s barrels where longer & interchangeable with the SD9/40s
Looking threw Gunbroker @ some of those Gunbusters I saw a SW40s whos barrel did look longer, Not sure about that interchangeability, Remember that first off, I don't want to lead you astray
The possibility of threading a barrel like that might be a possibility for you
Here's some of those auctions, The 3rd one is a SD40VE that I was looking at thinking I could turn a SD9 into a 40 with the barrel, slide & recoil spring swap
NOTE: The SDs barrels look larger at the tip end where the SWs are completely straight

It might have been the earlier SWs barrels where longer?
They look the same length to me looking back & forth
