Default 1911 38 Super Mag Failures

Wondering if anyone else has had problems with CMcC 1911 Shooting Star Mags, 38 Super.
Second time it's happened; spot welds holding the baseplate to the mag tube let go completely. In all fairness, I'm not gentle when doing a mag change, usually the slide closes from the force I use in driving the mag home and seating it.
Got a replacement last time, no problem, but I'm wondering if a brand change might be in order.
Tks, Kevin

I've been using mine for about 3 years and no hitches at all.

Give CMC a call and tell them your situation. They have been very responsive to me.

John & Robert,
Thanks for the responses. Have been using a pair of Kimber mags, which haven't had any issues, along w/the above mentioned CMcC's. I'm shooting a Kimber Stainless Custom Target II, .38 super.
No complaints about the customer service I've received. Mailed in the problem mag tube and had a new one w/in a week.
Because this was the 2nd occurrance I was wondering if others had similar experiences. Tks, Kevin

If you are looking for the best I have used, look no further than the Tripp Cobra mags.

I also have a couple of those and they are a cut above the CMCs.

Yep, the Shooting Star followers are hit or miss in most 1911s. In my .38 supers they are the only mags that ever give me trouble.

Look for some mags with the standard Colt design follower, they have all worked perfectly for me. I also have Check-Mate that works good, but I have'nt seen them for sale yet.

Owned a .38 Super Colt Gov't model years ago and always used OEM mags. Never had a problem with Colt mags. You can't go wrong with factory mags.
