Thumbs up New 1911 Pro Series Subcompact - Good first impression

I picked one up a weeek or so back and put it through its paces as the range.

Initial impressions are good. Shoots about 2" low at 25 feet, windage dead-on.

Fired about 125 rounds through both mags - no jams, ftf's, stovepies, nada. All rounds were new 230 gr federal round nose

Grips that come on the gun are ok, but the hogues fit my hand much better.

Recoil is very manageable - No worse/better than my 1911Sc - but certainly a bit more felt recoil than my full size Koenig.

Here's a few pics

Bill,

Yep - That's the gun. It's on the new S&W web site as well. I changed the grips from what came with it (stippled rubber) to the Hogues.

I like that! That is one sweet looking pistol. Is it throated well for JHP's or does it have the new style dimple?

Not sure what you mean by dimple...It does not have a ramped barrel, but I intend on trying some hp's next time out. I'll post the results.

At least some of the 1911 Colt's I've seen don't have the wide mouth throating I'm accustomed to seeing like in the 3rd Gen Smith's, but rather have a sort of dimple instead. They look like an amateur attempt at throating a barrel. That's what I meant by dimple. Wish I had a pic but none available.

It's kind of like a scoop at six o'clock at the chamber mouth....aha-I found a pic.

I've fed Gold Dots, Rangers, and Hydra-shoks through mine without a hiccup. These are sweet carry pieces and give short-barreled 1911s a great name!

Ok, I see what you mean - The barrel does not have that dimple. I'll take some more pics tonight.
