I posted a while back about an odd 5903 I saw at a gun shop, turns out it's a 5903-SSV and they still have it for $399. I don't think they know it's an SSV? I'm hoping to trade my XD9 for it.

Well I got it! I only had $120 into my XD, got the 5903-SSV just now with FOUR mags from Cabelas! SCORE!! I'd say it's 88-90% condition. I think the mags were for the 915 they had but he gave them to me. Nice guy to deal with.

Yup that's exactly it. It was too much hassle selling this XD and I stumbled upon this rare gun so I jumped on it, that gun sat at Cabelas for a year and noone bought it!

I don't know if I should keep it original and stock or add the hogue's and some Trijicons.

I do not have the SSV but just spent a ton putting Trijicons on 2 3913;s and bought CrimsonTrace lasers for my 5903 and 5906. This stuff ain't cheap. But I'm glad I did.

Congrats on picking up a very nice pistol. The SSV versions have to be some of the sharpest looking pistols S&W made.

As long as you keep the original grips and sights, you could always put them back on if you wanted to change it back. Those aren't changes that can't be undone.

Very cool 5903 SSV, blue slide alloy frame 15 round capacity. Those are really nice looking guns and good shooters.

Congratulations!

How much do you think it's worth?

Is that the "hooked" trigger guard?

I could swear that's the same gun I sold off years ago and still regret getting rid of.
They come with the rounded grips like a 5906, I installed the flat backstrap grips like you have on your gun.

Nice piece, wish I had kept mine.

Every picture I've found has had the rounded grips, this probably was yours.

Took it to the range, about 60 rounds of WWB and I was grouping nicely. Definately needs night sights but the grip is fine. I like the straight back better than my 6906 curved back grip.
