The black & white line drawings in the other post are good factory directions to follow. Be careful getting creative.
Replacing the grips does require some attention and care, though, as it's possible to tweak or otherwise damage/bend the side plate under the grip panel on the left side of the frame. This usually happens when someone is inattentive, and snags the front end of the sideplate with the top/left corner of the grip. This can exert improper pressure against the sideplate, levering the sideplate upward until the rear "leg", or prong", at the sear pin is bent, tweaked or snapped off.
Also, unless the grip is fully seated forward under the tang at the rear of the frame, the grip can be left out of place just enough to prevent fully lowering the safety/decocking levers and decocking the gun.
Normal placement and lever function:
Here's what it looks like when the grips aren't fully seated forward:
Often when a grip isn't positioned all the way forward, so the decocking lever clears the grip, just grasping the grip in a regular manner and "squeezing" the grip frame will move the grip forward into the proper position. (Notice how less of the front end of the sideplate is visible when the grip is properly positioned after installation.)
Sometimes one of the grip's recessed front "lips", that are intended to fit over the inside front edge of both frame windows, may not be fully seated and might slip over on the outside of the frame.
