New to me CS9D
Picked this baby up today. I have a couple of questions for the S&W Brain Trust.
Are all CS9s double action only?
This one is the black model. Is the slide stainless under the black finish?
Thanks!!

I am not an owner of a CS9 (yet) but I do know that they have DAO (Double Action Only) and TDA (Traditional Double Action) models. The majority of the models I have seen on the Smith forum and ones listed for sale have been silver (and not black) and more often than not TDA over the DAO.
Please post pictures of your new DAO CS9 in black so we can drool over your Black Beauty!

There's the picture. I thought I had it in my original post.
Thanks for the information.
Still waiting for someone to tell me if it's stainless.
Thanks

I can't say for certain but I would be willing to bet it is similar to the 3914. Mine came from the factory with an aluminum alloy frame that was anodized black and a carbon steel slide that was blued. The 3913 is a silver, grayish or even white looking anodize on an aluminum alloy frame with a stainless steel slide.
Oh and thanks for the picture. She is a black beauty!

If a magnet sticks, it's carbon steel. If it doesn't, it's stainless.

A set of "Big Dog" grips would look good on it

The CS9 is a TDA pistol. The CS9D is one made by the factory as a Double Action Only model.I am the person who throws a monkey wrench in the works.Have been a revolver guy forever and the CS9 was my first semi-auto.Because I am so used to my guns having the same trigger pull I had my CS9 factory converted to Double Action Only so osscasionally you will see a exception to this rule.Enjoy your CS9D .....Mike BTW it is a Alloy frame not Stainless...Mike

I've already done that test and it was inconclusive. A magnet sticks to the barrel which is stainless and to the slide with what seems to be an equal amount of magnetic pull. So I'm still not sure.
Thanks

Maybe Fastbolt the resident expert will weigh in. I believe the slide even on the blued model is steel, the frame is alloy on blued and stainless versions.

Regardless of the slide material, I sure wish I had run across one of those today. Very nice.

My CS9(with BigDogGrips now) came from factory in 2000 with Hogue wrap around grips - matte alloy frame with stainless slide
