Model 41 born on date...
Would like to have the manufactured date of my Model 41 w/ 7" barrel. I bought this gun new in 1980, ser #A615XXX.

The following is from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 2nd Ed. by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas:

Looks like 1980 to me but you'll need a factory letter to know for sure.

My 41 Serial # A-633xxx was made in 1980 I recently removed the grips to clean under them & one of the grips was stamped 8/80,So yours is likely Late 79 or Early 80
