Default What is a S&W 6592?

Ran across a gen3 at the LGS today. Looks pretty much like a 5906 until you look closely. It has the older style hooked trigger guard, stainless frame, and a 1911 style barrel bushing. It has night sights, but they are not the Novak style. Never seen anything like it. Anyone got info?

Those were "transistion" guns mostly sold through RSR Distributing. I've seen several variations some with either the 2nd gen frame or upper mixed together. Although I never saw the bushing style barrel with the 3rd generation dovetailed front sight slide before. Models were usually listed as 659-1, 659-2 or 6592.

What handgunner356 said.

They were made up for RSR in the early 1990s. Most are on 3rd gen frames but also used up left over 2nd gen parts.

I wish you had pictures of the whole thing. This is also the first one I have seen with a separate bushing and dovetailed front sight.

If he still has it next week, I'll get a pic of the whole gun. It basically looks like a 5906. The rear sight is different, smaller than the Novaks. The barrel bushing looks like a 1911 style. The barrel does not have the "bump" on the end like a 5906. Any idea as to the value of something like this? The gun is in almost new condition.
