Wink Smith & Wesson 469

I just purchased A S&W 469 serial # TBK131*. It is a Century Int Arms import marked pistol. Can anyone tell me it's birthdate? History? Thanks BK

Bruce, that serial puts your 469 at 1987, the second to the last year of production as I recall. Can't help on the Century markings, although I am aware that there were 469's that were sold on a contract to South America.
Hope that helps,
Fuzzy

Thanks for your help, it seems the Model 469 was a Police issue weapon. It must of not been real popular in the civilian market. I bought an extra mag yesterday when I was in OKC @ the Outdoor America Store. I also found out Fred Baker passed last month. Merry Christmas to all!! BK

Hi BK,
I still enjoy shooting my two 469's. I purchased my first one in February 1984. Both 469's are still great shooters with 124gr.

I have improved the sight pictures with replacement 6904 slides and barrels. The white three dot sights work better for me than the original thin yellow line front sights that came on the 469's.

I also added Uncle Mike's Rubber grips, which is a great improvement for me, over the original two style delrin factory grips.
I also have Pacymayers but they fell too thick for me compared to the Uncle Mike's rubber grips.

Enjoy your 469.

DLC’s S&W469 with 2nd gen Grips.

DLC’s S&W469’s both with Pacymayr’s.

DLC’s 469’s with Uncle Mike’s Rubber Grips.

I know with practice I will get better and shrink the group size down (20 rounds at 10 yards) but here is the target of my first range visit with my 469:

When I bought this gun at the Birch Run, MI gun show two years ago it was one of the dirtiest, grimiest pistols I'd ever laid eyes on. With an hour or so of detailed cleaning and lubricating, it is a great carry gun.

good morning....I noticed this thread and found it informative. I am looking at 469 about this age and can pick it up for 200. it is alittle scratched on the slide, otherwise barrel and action is very clean. is this a good price?

$200 is a real good price, most are in the $300 range. I like mine, compact, and fits my hands better than a single stack 9mm.

Yes, go buy it. I have a 6906, but at that price I would buy it, just to have another one.

If it looks good inside, I would buy it in a second!

I bought a Nickel 459 from 1982..with the A prefix about 4 months ago. I paid $400 and rationalized it as a collector purchase as the 2nd gen pistols were made for less than a decade and I wanted a nice example from back then. It shoots great but I had to put some white on the front sight. It was hard for my old eyes to see.
$200 for any S&W that shoots is a good deal
Mike
