Default Import marked 915's?

I just bought a 915, a 1992 production, that has an import mark.

Very nice gun, extremely accurate and hasn't seen many rounds.

Just wondering if anyone knew what foreign police force, etc. used these.

I have one of the Australian re-import 66-7's and thought it might be something similiar.

While S&W had/has a number of foreign contracts, a lot of the 3rd Gen guns (5906, 3953, 915, 910) went to Canada. Canadian LEO's have been making the move to polymer guns in force over the last few years and have traded in a ton of Smiths.

I hadn't even thought of that, thanks for the info!

I have a few Canadian re-import Ruger GP100's, and I have heard of the switch of many of the Canadian provinces to Glocks, etc.

The last I heard Sig P226's were popular with Canadian LE agencies, but that may also explain the number of import marked 226's on the market
