SW4526....what would you pay?
I teach for the local college police academy. The director got him a chief job and I did inventory for the firearms in stock.
There is a lone SW 4526 sq trigger guard in stock. There is no documentation on this firearm as to when it came to be here at the academy.
When I took over, they had a bunch of value line smiths that were rusting but they had pretty much been parked that were replaced by plastic.
While this gun shows some cosmetic scuffing on the frame dust cover and trigger guard area (likely from waistband carry).....its a solid piece with the probability of not that many rounds down the tube.
What would you pay for a solid low mileage dinosaur if you came across it. I will post some images tomorrow. It lack dimples so a ride back home is in order but the director shot 50 rnds a yr for qual with no issues.
It does have two yellow follower mags with it.
This gun while a desired piece, will likely have to go as it will not benefit anyone at the academy. I want to get a value as it might be worth 2 or 3 pieces of plastic.
TIA

I paid 500 for a very nice 4536 last year and I consider it a very fair purchase. Then again, I think stainless steel 3rd gen S&W pistols are the best buy out there right now. Any 3rd gen with a Sig style decocker is a buy and will no doubt continue to go up in value.

Probably a $650 to $700 gun, locally. Maybe a bit more with box and docs or to somebody who really wants one.
I don't have the SCSW handy, but I don't think there were many of those made. Very nice pistol, easily worth three pieces of tupperware. Regards 18DAI.

Any chance of that I can purchase this gun? I need better pictures but if the condition is right I will pay $750-$850. Does it have the original box?
Thanks

There is no box and two yellow follower mags....that is it.
I teach next week and take some better images.
I am only testing the waters for a price and final decision on what to do with this piece will likely be up to the new director.....whenever that happens.
I would like to see this go to a true sw'ner than get traded to a wholesaler and get nothing but a single replacement unit.
Whoever ran the academy yrs ago bought G19s (27) and I would like to replace them with G17s but again....I don't
call the shots.
I am told G19s are very desired and I would like to work a trade for G17s....but it won't be even or in favor of the academy which will not have funds.

I paid $750 plus shipping and transfer fee for mine. It is stone cold mint from an estate in FL. What a sweeeeeeeeeet pistol. I would give $600, but that's cause I'm not a fan of the squared guard.

ok, sounds like its worth at least two pieces of plastic.
I will still snap some better pics next week and hopefully the new director (whenever that happens) will agree with me.
thanks for looking

Good choice of the Glock 17 for training. I used one in my academy. I had shot other types of handguns prior to LE and was used to carrying a G23, but I do think the G17 is the easiest handgun platform to teach "new" shooters.
Except for the dumb bitch in my class that loaded rounds into a Remington 870 backwards...and repeatedly swept the class with her muzzle. That idiot would be dangerous with a cap gun.
