Default Current production Bodyguard 380's

Are the current production models reliable? Do they have all the bugs worked out.

I'd like to buy one, but I need to know that it would be reliable. I need to know if the pistol is reliable in all ways, but particularly concerned about the firing pin and trigger. I know there were problems in the past.

Did S&W change the design or otherwise have the problems ended?

How common were the problems to begin with? Is this internet hype?

Have you put a large number of rounds through yours with no issues?

Bonus points for info on the laser/button improvements if any. I'm only interested in this secondarily, the pistol's function is most vital to me.

I've searched and read many threads on this.

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to participating in this forum. Have some other questions for another post about the Shield vs Compact M&P. So look forward to that nugget of brilliance.

Seems like the overwhelming evidence is that they're fine guns and the problems are in the past. Agree?

I bought a BG380 a couple of weeks ago. Work has been nuts, so I have not had an opportunity to shoot it yet. Though, I plan to put one or two hundred rounds through it next weekend. I know a couple of people at my local range that love their BG380s. I researched the BG380 to death before I bought mine. All of the issues that people were having/reporting appear to have been with early production models for the most part.

From what I have found in my research, the only "regular" issues that people on here and other forums are typically reporting from the past six months have been with the laser buttons and/or laser set screw backing out and hanging up people's slides. My BG380 was test fired on 03/12/2012 (Serial #EBJXXXX). The laser was really difficult to activate when I first got it. I called S&W the day after I bought it, and without hesitation, they sent me a set of firmer buttons to correct the issue. I had them within five days. It still takes a deliberate push to activate the laser, but it is perfectly easy to turn on and off. With regard to the laser screw, I will just make it a habit to tighten it every so often (after 100 or so rounds fired), if necessary. Honestly, the screw on my BG380 is held solidly in place once tightened down, so I'm not really concerned. That's just my opinion.

I have about 400 dry fires and 600 rounds through mine with no issues at all. Mine is an EAL serial number.

I own 2 380 BGs, one I bought used which has a MFG date of 5/11 and the other one I bought new, has a MFG date of 11/11. I have never had any issues with either.

Mines perfect so far. My favorite go everywhere gun. Have approx 300 rounds thru it. Even after 2 months pocket carry with no cleaning it functioned perfectly at the range. Mine is an EAV model, laser buttons work perfect along with the rest of the gun.
