6906 Carry holster
Today my great home state of Oklahoma passed HB1733 into law. We are now a open carry state as long as you have a concealed carry license (effective Nov. 1, 2012).
What I am looking for is recommendations for a good holster that will keep my 6906 "close and tight",preferably locked in to keep weapon retention as a high priority. I do not plan to carry the gun on my hip like a old west gunslinger (as some seem to think the state is going to become, the old west ) I have a serpa holster, but it sticks the gun out there a little too much for my liking.
Thanks for any suggestions!

A Don Hume JIT belt slide holster doesn't lock the gun to the holster but it rides high, tight and secure. My favorite inexpensive holster for semi-automatics and more concealable than most OWB models.

I will second this. The JIT Slide holster is a remarkable value and pulls the pistol in close to the body. I have three of them now for different pistols.

I would think that any well made pancake style holster with a thumb snap would work for you. A Don Hume h721 if they make it or something similar.

Open Carry.... What am I missing? I don't understand why anyone would want to carry open instead of concealed. There is no tactical advantage that I can think of. In my state of Ohio, open carry has been allowed for as long as I can remember but you hardly ever see anyone carrying open. If you can't legally conceal I can see it as being better than unarmed.
Please enlighten me.

Please clarify what you mean by this.
Are you speaking of retention along the lines of of a police duty holster?
Are you really going to walk around town with one of those gigantic things?

Check out Andrews Leather, he does offer a thumbreak for most of his models. I have his Wrap-id model, and am very happy with it. Sam is a great guy to deal with.

I guess that was the wrong choice of words.... I would like to keep in close and tight to my body, not hanging out.. Concealed carry here meant that noone could tell that you were carrying a firearm, it had to be completely concealed and totally unnoticeable. i.e. no bulge, nothing. Now I will be able to carry it, still under my shirt or jacket, but if there is a noticeable bulge or something, it is still legal.
I have a pretty small body frame, so keeping it in close to me is fairly important. I will look at those suggestions, thanks for the input.

I picked up a DeSantis "Millenium Leather" holster off ebay last month and really like it. Very comfortable standing or sitting and its holding up real nice. You should still be able to find it. It was under $50 delivered. Could have been as low as $40.
Photos below are a 6906 w/5906 15 round mag. Molded holster fits perfectly. Fits snug enough with any sort of loose shirt.
This is not leather but some sort of layered plastic. I was concerned until I received it. Looks and feels like leather with a soft almost suaded (sp) lining. Got to say I really like this holster.......It will do fine till I can afford a few Brigade holsters.

If you want something that will hold the gun close to your body, then check if the Don Hume H721 is still available for the 6906. I've had good luck with Hume holsters over the years.

Rodek Leather Works, Inc. - Home
Ed's pancakes do exactly what you are asking. He made the one below in 2000 and I wore it nearly everyday for 6 yrs until I retired. Tucks the butt in and holds it close. And it looks good. Still as stiff and looks like it did the day he made it. Ed uses very heavy weight leather that holds its shape and appearance. Ed has been making holsters for at least 30 yrs as that's how long I've known him.
Can't beat the price anywhere. About $33 in your choice of color and patterns.
