I notice the M P Shield 9 mm has a manual safety lever on the side of the frame. If you would carry the Shield with the manual safety off .

Is there any internal safety preventing the firing pin from moving until the trigger is pulled to prevent a drop fire ?

Yes, there is a firing pin block, so the manual safety is not necessary to prevent a discharge from dropping, assuming the pistol is in proper working order.

Plus you have the trigger safety, that won't do much if dropped, but it's there, so the Shield more or less has 3 safety's...

I'll never carry it with the safety on as I am left handed...

I'm going to check if there is a way of doing away with the safety lever so it won't get flicked on by mistake... I'm not sure if I can just trim the safety or if I can just remove it... I'll most likely just leave it alone as it looks like it won't flick on by mistake...

Great, Thank You...

I figured it would be something easy like that..

I'll have the gun apart soon to add the APEX kit I can do it then..

I have to wait till December for my XS sights as those are on backorder but I can do the other stuff for now...

The safety on my Shield 9 is pretty hard to engage, much harder than it is to flick off. I highly doubt you can flick it on by mistake but I guess anything is possible. I'll probably leave mine factory just in case I ever want to use the safety, but most of the time I'm going to carry it with the safety off.

the manual safety on the shield9 I had worked like a champ..the short time I carried it was with the safety on.....BUT...now carry a 3913NL with the safety off.....I guess I am just too old school to trust a striker fire pointed at my junk:eek:
