I have searched this forum, the net and many places trying to locate an add on rail for my 5906.
Finally I ran across Railtac They have a site railtac.com and I found one that will fit my 5906.
I called and ask them to send me one for the browning high power.
The radius is Slighty different, but I installed it and am working with them to help them get one that will fit exactly for the different radius on the dust cover of the 5906.
THey should have the rail ready very soon for the third gen S&W automatics. I am going thru shooting trials now, and so far she is working fine. No drill or tap needed, as they use a NASA approved adhesive, that can also be removed without damaging the gun...A big plus IMO.
I found the right size light, a 150 lumen from AIM sports in california. I also have one of these on my Mossburg 500 12 ga and they work very nicely-plus the price is right.
Thought you members would like to see a couple of pictures.
Finally a solution for adding a rail for light or Laser.
will try to post 2 pictures, since i am new here please bear with me.

Thanks for the info. I was looking for a 5906 tactical for the rail, this seems like a good solution. What also caught my interest was the tape they used to attach the rail. It's 3m VHB Tape. I saw strength test of this tape on you tube and looks pretty strong. I was thinking if it can hold a rail with a light, that it can hold a light weight red dot mount on the slide, with a micro red dot sight. I have the sight and found the tape on amazon. I think I will give it a try. It would save me from drilling and taping the slide. I am currently using a bridge mount on a M&P22. Thanks, again.

Huh....and here I am trying to figure best way to REMOVE the rail from my 5906TSW!

Please excuse my typos...posting from iPad

picatinny rail for Burris fastfire2

do you think this tape would secure a picatinny rail section on the top of the slide so I could mount a Burris Fastfire 2?

It looks like you need to re-install the rail, just a couple hairs forward of where it is now, as it seems to be jammed into the front of the trigger guard.

rail mount on S&W 5906 answer to question

Actually the orange dot is a piece of silicone rubber 1/8 thick to asorb some shock that is will be present.
I have also used an adjesive a clear PL 400 going around the edge with a hypo -less needle to get a nice clear bead that blends in and offers some more adhesion qualities.
Now over 400 rounds througt with the light on and NO looseness. No screws to come loose or tighten.
A laser could also be mounted.
DIfferent lights would need to be measured accurately to get the exact positon, befor mounting. I apreciate you mentioning this, but the fitting was intentional. I should have explained the orange dot is a bumper... Thank you for you input.

Ariete has a similar system.
They use strong magnets on steel framed guns and that same VHB adhesive on aluminum. There are even combinations, glue on an adapter, magnet a laser or light to the adapter.

They have a wider selection than railtac and I think you have given me the nerve to get one for my Sig P226.

Dann , could you let me know which rail you have? I would like to put one on my 5906 but at railtac I can't seem to find the model I need. Thanks

Did you talk to Novak? I saw a 4566 that they had added their Dawson rail to once and it looked sharp.

Either way, not my cup of tea...at all. My Glock 19 wears a TLR-3 on it's factory rail. My Smiths won't ever see "adhesive" to achieve the same affect.

As for lasers...don't get me started.
