Default 6906 Question.

First off, I want to thank everybody for the help &
tips I've received on this site! My question is: why
do some 6906's have the red dots(safety on/off
indicator)& some do not? Was this an option? It
doesn't seem to matter as to finish(stainless, blued)
& can they be added?

Thanks!

Someone here will know better but I think it may have just been a production choice at the time. My 3913TSW does not have a red dot but my 3904 and 3906 do.

I only use the lever for decocking anyway...the TDA allows for ease of carry with the hammer down/off safe.

Is your decocker spring-loaded to return to the fire position? If so, that's why, it's a decock only, not a safety.

As far as I have personally witnessed, all 6906's have the red safety off indicator, it is actually a small detent that had a drop of red paint of some type in it......many times the paint falls off or gets worn away from cleaning, especially when the guns were cleaned in a sonic cleaner....yours should have a visible detent on the frame where it once was......one thing I have noticed is that on second gens (439,639,459,659), every round trigger guard early version does not have the red dot or detent (it's located on the slide on second gens), but right around the time they switched to the square trigger guard, they all have them.....then shortly after that, the lanyard loop disappeared from the back strap (mainspring housing)......just my observation of some quirks, of which there are many, of Smith&Wessons......

Thanks for your reply! I have come to the conclusion that the
drop of paint approach will work.
