My understanding that the S&W model 422 and model 622 are the same gun? the model 422 is alluminum alloy and the model 622 is stainless. Is this correct?

If this is correct does anybody have any data on the weight of these two guns? What I want to show in the Canadian Restricted Firearm Course is that you can get the same gun but the frames are made of different material thus different weight.

The frames on the 422/622 pistols are alloy, the slides are steel and stainless steel. The 622 stainless slide may weigh a bit more than the 422 steel slide I doubt more than two ounces. The 2206 model was all stainless and considerably heavier.

Yeah pretty sure the difference is the color not the material.

Theyre both the same.....alum frame AND slide except the 422 is black and the 622 is alum finish.....

422/622

The 422 has an alloy frame and a blued steel slide and the 622 has a alloy frame and a stainless steel slide where the 2206 is all stainless.
And I think the 2214 is the 3" version of the 422 and the 2213 is the 3" version of the 622.

ColbyBruce and showme22 nailed it.

I'm a lil late to the party, but I can't resist showing it off. I broke it down and coated it with Brownell's Aluma-Hyde 2 OD Green.
