So I purchased the 622 back in 1989 new. Out of the box it would fail to lock the slide back after the last round. Sent it back to S&w they said it’s an ammo issue, yeah whatever. I have factory mags and they all do the same thing.
So college, marriage, life happens, I have not shot the gun since 1989. I pulled it out of the safe today and tried it, same issue.
Well we now have the internet which was not around in 1989, so here goes. Same issue but I did find a couple other posts out there with the same issue. This time I have figured out what’s going on, the slide stop arm has lateral placed and combined with being about 1/32- 1/64” too short, frequently jumps over the little catch rod on the magazines.
I have ordered a replacement from gun parts hoping it’s in spec.
Anybody know how to R&R the slide stop? If this does not work the part will need to be carefully bent in a little or have a tack of weld put on the top to extend it and file it for the gun.
PITA.
Will try to post pictures, but this site does not host, any thought, suggestions?
Thx
