Hello and welcome to the forum.
Your Model 59 shipped in about 1977. The serial number tables in the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd Edition, show 1976-1977 for serial number sequence A295001-A385000.

Help with Serial Number?

I have a Smith Model 59. Wonder if anyone might know when it was Mfg?
Serial A2584(XX)
Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome to the Forum,

According to the Standard Catalog of S&W:
1974-1975 A235001-A265000

Hope this helps

Robert

Hush Puppys were Model 39`s. The 59 was experimented with but not adopted by the Armed Forces.
I suppose it is possible someone in the 82nd had a privately owned one in VN late in the war. I have never heard of a Model 59 paratrooper in my reaserch of the S&W 9mm pistols.

I didn't really think it was a "Hush Puppy".
More likely an example of over exuberant salesmanship.
I've never heard of a Model 59 paratrooper, either. (But then, there are probably a lot of things I've never heard of, but I wouldn't know, because I've never heard of them.)

Thank you all, I was thinking the same thing, since I could find nothing at all anywhere pointing to a Model 59 paratrooper. But it wouldn't be the first time I missed something! lol Thank you all very much!
