I've been checking out some 9mm 1911's lately. I've got a couple full-size, steel .45's so for a change of pace I'm looking for 9mm and "other than full-size". Looking at the STI Guardian, Springfield EMP, Colt Defender and a few others. I've seen a couple mentions on this forum on the Pro Series 3" 9mm but they are not currently offered by S+W. Their web site only shows current offering of a standard 1911 and a Pro (or was it "E"?) Series 1911's in 9mm. Both models are 5" barrels, so if my next purchase is a S&W, it will be a used one. So what compact 1911 offerings has S&W had in the past in 9mm?...and how do you like it?
