Price check: 4006
I saw a 4006 in nice shape with adjustable sights at the LGS for $385. Prices have been volatile lately; is this currently a decent price?
Seems to have been shot a bit (judging by mild barrel wear at the bushing point), but the the exterior is pristine. No box.
Thanks,
Beuford

I've been looking for a 4006. If I found a decent one for <$400 I would buy it.

Good gun, very good price. Buy it. Your not married to it. If you decide to sell it, you'll get all of that back.

I paid $900 for mine new in 1990. The .40 was all the rage back then and these pistols were very hard to find. I wonder how much that would be in 2014?

Less than $300 for any third gen in decent condition is a steal. $400 is a very reasonable price. $500 may be getting up there a bit. IMO

Picked up one with fixed sights for $400 last year, like new condition but no box or papers. Great pistol and well worth the money to me

California prices are higher by a good margin. I bought a very nice 4003 with one mag for $500.00 , and thought i got a pretty good deal. As far as how it shoots , I got an awesome deal. Super accurate , very high quality , and so far has been 100 percent reliable.

Price Check 4006
I bought one from Gunbroker for $350 with adjustable sight. Your price is in the ballpark.

I just bought one locally yesterday for $375, no box and one mag, and feel like I got a good deal based on what I have seen for prices lately. Adjustable sites with a very good exterior, actually waiting on a lane to open up for the first range trip right now!

That seems like a great buy to me. Where else can you get a finely machined well made, super reliable pistol for that price? That S&W will outlast your grandkids. And as already posted, you will get your money back if you find something you like better.

What cost $900 in 1990 would cost $1557.03 in 2012.
The Inflation Calculator
The last year they figured for was 2012 so I'd add 50 or 60 bucks
