I ordered a couple 12-round mags from Midway for the S&W 669 and they sat on the shelf for some time, because I didn't go to the range much in Illinois. I retired and moved to Arizona and went to the range and found I could only put 3 rounds in the mag. Passed it around, and no one else could put more in either.

I contacted Midway and it had been "too long" since I bought them and said to go to S&W. S&W is sending me a couple springs, but not quite sure how to replace them, haven't had to before.

Any tips? (pics attached)

Thanks much!

Push in pin at bottom, hold it in while sliding floorplate forward and off magazine, being careful not to let spring and follower fly out. Pay attention to the orientation of the spring, replace in reverse order.

Wow... thanks...

You'd think S&W would be aware of this by now and inform the customer that the spring isn't the issue.

Well, at least I didn't have to pay for the springs. I'll hold onto them for future use. May have to bring them to the local gun shop to have them filed.

Thanks for all the tips! :)
