New SW22 Victory 22LR target pistol?

Does anyone REALLY think that S&W can't make a NICE trigger? Even the one on the .22A was/is sweet.

I'm surprised no one has gotten their hand on one, yet!

They can. It's a question of if their legal department will let them.I have to say that even the last new 41 I tried had a disappointing (but fixable trigger.) That said, I have felt some nice triggers on their 1911 series in recent times.
IMHO, the best thing about S&W triggers is that they are always easy to tune to VERY acceptable levels.

Hi All...Newbie here. It does look just like my 22A-1 with a thinner barrel profile. Like others said, I'll stick with my 41 and 22A-1, which I do really like. FWIW, here is the Volquartsen link with barrels for this new SW22. With one of these and a proper trigger, it may be worth consideration...or it may not. https://www.volquartsen.com/tags/52-sw-22-victory
Those actually look pretty cool with the rail and reflex.

After watching the 22 plinkster review and seeing that Vol barrel on it and how easy the takedown and barrel swap is, I'm pretty much sold.
I have a tricked out Mk3 and love it, but who doesn't need another 22 pistol?

22Plinkster has a Video on it. [ame="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng-0FGrvBTg"]http://https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng-0FGrvBTg[/ame]

I too could be tempted to buy one of those. I could then retire my 22A-1 Talo to safe-guarding duty so I might never experience any of the reported frame cracking concerns.

Plinkster's video answered some of the posters questions, and his shooting with the pistol was enlightening, particularly with the ammo he was using.

Comparing the design sight unseen with older design pistols leaves out a lot about what the internal parts look like and how well they function.

The weight compares favorably with the Mod. 17 and few would criticize that. Love to hear some first person accounts by actual users.

Good for S&W. Looks like they beefed up the 22A design to compete with Ruger.

Yes, I've owned my share of finicky 41's. There is a need for this pistol in the market and I'll show my support by purchasing one ...or two.

Let's face it, the pistol prices are pocket change. It's the rim ammo that requires a second mortgage.

You know, I hear that often but it doesn't have to be the case. Before the "great shortage" began, I usually paid between $8.99 and $9.99 for CCI MiniMag ammo in boxes of 100. I use that stuff almost exclusively in all my .22LR revolvers, autoloading handguns and bolt-action rifles and have plenty on hand but keep myself on MidwayUSA's "Notify Me" list for when it comes back into stock. As recently as two weeks ago, I paid them $7.99 for the same ammo! Another equally accurate load is Federal's GameShok load that is similar to the MiniMag - copper plated bullets and even better shot-to-shot velocity consistency!

I know people will say I'm crazy for divulging a source but I have all I need and I like to help others get some too.

In addition to your local gun shops, find online sources for the ammo you like and ask to be notified when it is in stock. You don't have to pay those $10.99 to $12.99 (or higher?) prices for it.

Nice looking gun-if I didn't already have 3 Ruger pistols already, I'd look at this one. ( not to mention those 7 .22 revolvers gathering dust in the safe )

You can never have enough 22's.:)

+1 :D We can never have too many!
Below is a quote from another forum: :p

"Why am I so drawn to .22 pistols?! I really have no need for another .22 handgun but now this thing shows up, out of the blue. Having seen just the initial photographs, I had written it off as ugly and just another cheap, OK plinker.

Now, after reading extensively about it, it just seems too good to be true. Worst of all is that 22plinkster video! I suspect S&W will owe 22plinkster for this one, I have seen many mentions of his video being the turning point, and so it was for me, I'm sold! I will probably wait and see if they bring out a blued model, but now I'm kinda wishing I had waited on my MKIII purchase.

Now, I just need one of these and a Ruger GP100 .22. And about 10 or so other ,22 handguns I could name."

One needs to check out the review of this gun by 22plinkster..
It IS the real deal. S&W designed this gun to accommodate the after marked right out of the box by working with Volquartsen before releasing the gun to the public. Of course, by reading the posts on this forum I'm guessing most of you think Volquartsen makes ****!!

I've long been a fan of the Ruger ( have always owned a couple), but from what I've seen and read, this thing may have a spot next to my Rugers in the pistol rack :)

I've read them reviews and remain a naysayer on this new S&W .22. i agree with the early comment on the "Nambu look". it has a certain resemblance, though in a cleaned up and much improved way.
I've been in the market for a shooter .22 pistol during this latest snow and hip replacement mode too. I went in with my eyes wide open and quickly eliminated some of the cast zinc stuff and other cheapo's. I also wasn't after a competition pistol like a 41 nor it's price point.
I have owned a HS HD Military for ~ 50 yrs and while it shoots better than myself, it's antique value & interest makes it better suited for pasture than box after box shooting. The long owned Ruger Mk1 I gave to my Dad came back to me and was passed on to one of my sons long ago. While I like the Rugers I was still open to most accurate affordable .22's and that I "liked the look".
I dislike the look on this new S&W!
Even with the jazzy barrels, rails, wild grips, etc., it still has, IMO of course,a clunky look. They might have gone for the one screw bbl change thing but the transition from frame to bbl is sort of homemade looking. The rear of pistol has that old school "out over yer thumb look" of some vintage pistols, certainly not the cleaner lines of several other current pistols.
It shoots straight, that part I get. So does a bare bones bench rest proto-type thingy with no asthetics intended. This pistol has them "intended", just not to my liking.
So, for the record, after a world record amount of web searches and a couple of gun store hold one and aim at the wall sessions, what am I drooling over?
Browning Buckmark vs Kimber 1911/.22. I've watched every youtube (some so-called) reviews and various magazines and owner rants in forums yet in my dreams I'm undecided. If a Bucmark I like the sleeved/fluted Alu barrel Lite Gray URX (my CTS, arthritic hands need to actually hold one) @ 28oz or, the Camper UFX @ 34oz if I decide the Lite is not worth the money for less weight or, the Plus, slab side barrel in rosewood @ 34oz (if after holding one the wood grips a fit as my hands are also short fingers) or, a bigger OR-
The Kimber 1911 .22, @ 23oz, in std black.
Both of these pistols shoot better than myself. I don't see the new S&W taking much ground from the Buckmark which since 1985 has become a darling of many shooters and for many reasons. In fact, the popularity of the Browning, added to the distance between wholesale/retail prices makes new a better buy than used. Looking at Armslist & GB there is not hardly one Buckmark cheaper than new @ a discount and few have achieved true collector status as yet. Kimber has reviews both ways but by far mostly positive. Kimber has ~ 10% of the number of Buckmarks on GB but those that like them, really like them. Both are easily taken down but the Buckmark requires a couple of hex wrenches, nothing more. Given I'm not fighting a war, thats OK with me to carry a couple tiny wrenches(I have like 10 #'s of hexes at my age!, SAE & metric)
So, S&W, this one might be called Victory, but it will never grace my safe. (The 22A I dislike too and I didn't want a revolver either. If I had a 3rd place finisher it was the Berreta M9 .22 or Colt/Walther)
