Has anyone ever been lucky to find some unusual semi-autos for sale in a pawn shop?

I found my 3913TSW in a pawnshop...well, actually it found me. I did a lot of business with this pawnshop in OKC, & when they got it in I was the first person they thought of. Looked like new, box & docs, & they were very reasonable on the price.

I bought a three digit 1911 from a pawn shop in the late 80's and sold it for more than double what I paid.
It would be worth 10 times that, now.

Bought an old ppk from a local pawnshop that turned out to be a Nazi rsha ppk, issued to the SS. Not what I was looking for but cool nonetheless.

Over the years, I have gotten exactly diddly and squat. The pawn shops up here are nothing but junk outlets. The last time I went in there, the had an junky looking SCCY for $450!!! I am envious for those of you that live near real pawnshops that deal in real firearms.

For every twenty/thirty-odd trips into a single pawn shop,
you'll find something interesting...so, to make it all worthwhile,
I'll check out several a week...this is why one needs a Motorcycle ;)

The M/C makes it inexpensive to ride all over the place & its good therapy!!
If you have a leather/plastic scabbard, long rifles can be taken home easily.

Other options...I also drive Dedicated Route, taking me all over North Florida,
Lower Georgia, and Lower Alabama, all contiguous states to FL...
so if I find something in another state, having it shipped home is easy :D

Next, have a hot list. That's your Top Ten "I Want!" listing.
Or at least a top 5, SPECIFIC items that you would buy RIGHT NOW.
Example; S&W CS9 & CS40, Star Firestar Plus, Star M40, and a Star M30/31.
Since I'm also well versed in Gun Nut, if I happened to trip across a
Wilkinson Linda or Terry, or any other oddball rarities, instant sale as well ;)

Always, Always, Always, have an older Gun Trader's Guide ON HAND.
One lives in my saddlebags, another next to my Bed, also in computer desk.
Yes, you can get it online, BUT, some of these one-traffic-light towns
do not have internet access...nor even certain cellphone service...
(like Opp, AL nor Panacea, FL do not support BOOST phones)

Get to be known as a BUYER. Even if you don't find a gun,
check out the DVD's, spare parts bins, your other hobby stuff, etc...
even if its a $5 sale, they remember folks who spend money...
as opposed to all those jokers trying to sell 'em stuff ;)
BUYERS get preferential treatment and DEALS. Remember that.

Been a few years, but the pawn shops outside Fort Leonard Wood were over priced and pickings were slim on the handguns.

Pawn shops in my loony moonbat state (MA), by law, can't do guns. :o I'm not exactly sure what that does to the local used gun supply. I would think that folks needing to get rid of their guns fast for cash just go and sell them to gun shops instead. Don't know if they get less money or more money that way but I'll bet anyone that, on average, the gun shops will ask more for the guns than pawn shops. Or at least that is the impression I get from all the pawn shop super-bargains people brag about online. :D

Little Rhody does allow pawn shops to do guns. I can't buy handguns there without an FFL transfer... but I'm always curious to see what they have for sale and how the prices look. To date, nothing has jumped out at me as either super-desirable or as a bargain (let alone a super-bargain). But it could just be a matter of luck and timing. I tend to have very little luck and terrible timing. :D

I love pawn shops. Here's what I have found in the last 3 years or so in different pawn shops. And there have been numerous others that I've wanted but had to leave behind. Most recently a really nice Md 27-2.

Md 19-4, 6 inch nickel
Md 34-1, 2 inch blue
Md 4006
Md 39-2

Mostly smaller Mom & Pops in my area of the valley. Not a huge amount of success in AZ but I have come across a find now and then. Mostly shooter grade revolvers but I did recently purchase a 1076 that was worth dickering over...

I know a pawn shop where a pretty darn nice, Remington Model 51 is. Not the new kind but an early 20's kind. The shop owner won't get right on the price but if it's there long enough he might.

I bought the rather holster worn but tight Colt Cobra I carry for $340 with a decent IWB holster there a few years ago using a little patience.
