Default model 59 with better pictures

today I put on hold a old model 59. its a leo marked gun and is in wonderful condition.it has a numbered to gun box and paperwork and wax paper with it. the leo marking is on frame A.C.S.D. and a rack number on the slide. it has very little blue wear.but only one mag. now I have to track down a extra old style mag for it. may pick it up friday..well today I picked it up. Its a 1974 model 59 the box is numbered to the gun. it wasn't a rack number it was the last 4 of the ssn. over all it looks great.

Good for you sw44. Hope the price is right. Had one back in 78. Think I paid about $160 new back then. not a bad gun as long as the wide grip suits you. Think they came out around 71. Always fed and extracted without a hitch.

I hope you let us know how it shoots. Hope it shoots good for you.
The 59 is a cool piece of US firearms and LE history.

Congratulations! It sounds like you found a nice one and I hope it performs well for you. Let us know what A.C.S.D. stands for. And post some pics when you get a chance.

I don't shoot mine much but it performs perfectly. And even if I didn't have one I'd have to get one due to the historic significance of the model. It is the first USA produced DA/SA semi-auto with double stack mags. It inspired the nickname "wonder-nine".

So fess up...which one did you prefer to shoot?

From a practical and CCW standpoint, the 59 and it's payload make more sense, but tell me your 39-2 doesn't feel like they used your hand to mould the grip.

Nice early example with the relieved frame for the older (pre offset) safety lever.
