I've only shot 4 or 5 different kinds of ammo through my Victory. It shot all of them pretty well. If I were competing with it tomorrow, I'd choose CCI Standard. That ammo seems to be the most accurate in my pistol so far. I'll do more testing later. What ammo is the most accurate in your Victory?

Federal or CCI mini-mag to date. Although today the TAC-22 did just fine for me.

CCI Standard, Fed Auto Match, CCI Blazer, Rem Golden, and Fed 40 Hi Vel (the one in the red paper boxes) all shot very well for me. This gun is a winner!

Used available CCI mini mag. Excellent.

Check my Victory leading comment on accuracy.

I'm using mine to shoot speed steel so I want the bolt to run quick. I use Mini-Mags or similar.

I just checked and I'm currently working my way through a box of Federal Auto Match with no problems.

I should also say I have a Volquartsen carbon fiber barrel on the gun.

Ran 1st 100 Federal Bulk w/only 1 jam requiring take down. Super accurate w/this not so good ammo. Will be trying several other brands this weekend. Red dot is incredible.

This is the ammo I have tested in my Victory so far using my Labradar. I do have a Volquartsen SS flute/ported barrel but the factory barrel data should be close.

I've shot over 3000 rounds of 12 different brands/types of ammo through my Victory without a single failure to feed or eject. As far as benchrest accuracy is concerned, these are my results. The velocity is the advertised velocity and the cost per round is what I actually paid.

Code:
SW22 (30-50 FT) fps ¢/rd ES(in)
SK Standard Plus 1050 11.0 0.51
Norma TAC-22 1100 9.9 0.55
CCI MiniMag RN 1235 8.0 0.56
Aguila SuperExtra SV 1085 7.4 0.57
Federal G.M. Target 1080 9.0 0.57
Wolf Match Target 1050 12.0 0.58
Armscor Std Velocity 1135 7.6 0.61
CCI Standard Velocity 1070 8.0 0.63
Eley Club 1085 15.5 0.64

Federal AutoMatch 1200 9.2 0.84

It's great that you kept so good records, but I would now try moving the target to a minimum of 25 yards, and preferably 50. I can't explain the dynamics involved, but a load that shoots well at short distance can open up at longer distances, and vice-versa. I'd rather have a tight group at 50 yards and give up a little closer up, because at close range (say 25 feet), nearly any brand will shoot in to a pretty tight cluster. And once again, good work on keeping the records! :)

I can't see the target at 50 yards w/out a scope. These are the results for the same ammo at 50 yards with my 1996 Ruger 10/22 Target (with a Nikon 3-9x40 EFR scope) ...

Ha - I can relate to that! :)

Problems with CCI LRN Standard Velocity

I have a new S&W Victory; I took it to the range the other day, and had issues with the CCI Standard Velocity LRN cartridges. They continually jammed and misfed. I did clean and lube the gun before I went to the range.
Any suggestions?

If your pistol does not like standard velocity ammo, you may have to move to high velocity. Although, typically, standard velocity is expected to be more accurate.

Try some Aguila Super Extra or CCI MiniMags. Or CCI Blazer. But stay away from pretty much anything with the Remington name on it, and also stay away from Federal bulk.

Most likely not an ammo problem.

Some of us Victory owners have found that the ejector isn't in proper alignment. From the factory some of them sit a little to far towards the outside of the receiver and aren't in a good alignment to make contact with the spent casing.

Its a simple fix with needle nose pliers. Take the gun apart and you will see the pinch welded tab inside the receiver. That's the ejector. Use pliers and give it just a bit of pressure to move it slightly toward center. Mine took @ a 1mm adjustment. Slide the bolt back in and make sure the bolt isn't dragging on the ejector. I found that hand cycling wont show you if this fixed the problem. I found that shooting live ammo was the only way if I solved my problem.

Before my fix, I was having at least 2 feed issues per magazine. After the fix no problems at all.

And for the sake of the thread intension, I also have a Volquartsen SS Fluted barrel. Only ammo its seen is Federal Gold Medal HV Match of the 1080fps variety. Works great for me. Shoots accurate and burns very clean for .22lr.

If you are having FTE problems do the ejector fix. Take your gun apart and turn the barrel upside down and look at the position of the ejector to a empty case in the bolt. In most cases it just nicks the case. Take a needle nose and bend it slightly so it hits more of the case. Watch out you don't start scraping the bolt. you will find the completely ends FTE's. I also replaced the extractor with the one from Volquartsen. Hope this helps.

I just bought a new Victory last month & up until today was running flawless and this morning at a match (!) Almost every round I would get a FTE. OMG was I frustrated. Broke it down, scrubbed the barrel, nothing. Still had the FTE's. I just ordered a Volquartsen extractor thinking that would cure the problem but you guys are saying it's the ejector? ok, I'll go ahead & check it out as described in the previous comment. But will I have to readjust it again periodically? The thing is spot welded to the receiver, it's a matter of time before those welds get weak.

The ammo I was using today was Aguila super extra standard 40gr.

Dave in Utah Welcome to the Forum and I suggest trying what the others have said regarding tweaking the extractor just a wee bit. That usually does solve most issues with this problem on the Victory model.

Yeah I just looked at it now. Looking down at the bolt with a spend case partially extracted I can see where the case contacts the ejector. It hits right on the rim. I did "tweak" the ejector a hair however the channel it rides in on the bottom of the bolt doesn't allow much room for adjustment. But I did move it a half a hair further out towards center, but well within that channel & there is no contact whatsoever between the ejector & bolt. I'll give it another shot at the range & see how it functions. Here at home using dummy rounds & spent cases it ejects no problem.
Thanks
