Third Gen point of aim vs impact
I recently acquired both my third gem s&ws- a1006 and a 4006. The 4006 has the adjustable rear sight and the 1006 is the fixed Novak design.
I noticed that I had to crank my rear sight on the 40 quite a bit to bring my point of impact up. It sits noticeably higher in the housing than it had when I purchased it.
The 10mm also shot quite low. Fortunately, I found the trijicon sights that came with it sit taller in the back and a hair shorter in the front than the factory novaks. Those will be installed this weekend..
So, I guess I'm asking if the third gens inherently shot low, or if I just coincidentally got two pistols like this?

Mine shoot a bit low. I typically cover what I want to hit with the front sight. Not a precise method, but good enough for SD purposes, which is what I use them for.
Have you tried different bullet weights?
Changing the front sight to a shorter version is also an option.

Where are you placing the sights on the target. All guns are sighted in differently. Usually manufacturer to manufacturer.
Are you putting the top of the front sight on the X, the dot on the X or higher?

I always practiced and adjusted my pistols for sight image 2. I don't like to cover a target.
I have tried a handful of different ammunitions, but they all hit consistently enough at 20-25yrds- consistently low with the 1010km when sighting normally.
All my pistols are set up that way, including the 4006, now.

Using sight picture 2 above, my 1006 hits point of aim at 15 yds with the rear adjustable sight raised up almost to it's limit.

That's how the 4006 rear sight is set up, now.
Sounds like maybe these were set up from the factory for sight image 3?
