Price check on a 4566, please? Three mags but no box. Online listing only with small pics so can't be certain of condition. Let's call it 70-80% to be safe.

I've already got a 4506-1 (beautiful w box and adjustable NS,) and a couple of no-box beaters in a CS45 and 4553TSW. I don't *need* the 4566 but that isn't always the criteria. ;)

I was really kinda idly looking for a 6906 when this popped up. There is something unnatural about my affection for 3rd gen Smiths and my only flavor has been .45 so far.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Good pictures help....... not sure how you get a 70-80% stainless unless it's really banged up...................... bad pictures, on line... I'd pass.

IMO the 4566 is the best of the stainless steel 3rd Gen smith .45s....they are still big and heavy vs. what a lot of folks are looking for (plastic fantastic's).......w/ 3 mags in 'decent" shape most markets between $400-500....... maybe a bit more around here; from the right buyer.

Thanks, guys. "70-80%" was a factor of tiny pictures so I wanted assume the worst. I considered - then reconsidered - today and believe I'll hold out for a 4566 with the original box. The addition of a 4566 wouldn't be as a carry gun as much as the result of my affection for 3rd gen and use as another range gun.

This one started out at $550 with an unsolicited "but I would probably take $500."

I'll wait for the right one. Thanks again.

Is this a 4566 or a 4566TSW? It seems to make some difference price-wise with a lot of 4566TSW cop trade-ins out there. I bought two 4566TSW pistols (cop trade-ins) back in 2015. The first one (with box and three magazines) came through reasonably nice at $430+Fees. :) The second one I bought (three magazines but no box) came through kind of ratty at $395+Fees. :( Yes, I pushed my luck with on-line purchases just a little too far with that second gun.

Conversely, I found a nice (non-cop trade-in, non-TSW) Model 4566 for $550+Tax locally. Beautiful gun... it met the infamous TTSH acceptable condition standard. :D I'm guessing I could have bought it for $500+Tax but the dealer was not one I was real excited about dealing with (I'm being super-polite here so as not to get banned) and so I passed. :o

I bought my 4566 non-TSW online for $500 with two mags within the past year, and felt I got a good deal for its excellent condition. I watch the non-raileds online, and it seems most of them go for more than that now, up to $575 or so. I don't pay attention to the TSW models, but I think TTSH is spot-on with pointing out the difference in value and the fact that a lot of police trade-ins are coming into the market.

At $500, it's a lot of gun and built tough. I'd encourage you to buy, but I'm good at spending other people's money. :D:o

I lucked out back in January and got a non-tsw 4566 with 2 mags and no box on the big auction site for $375. The grips have a few dings but is otherwise in excellent shape.

I've been looking for a 4506 or variant and they just aren't around anywhere near where I live, even in Houston TX which I just visited, so I have to resort to online shopping with gunauction, gunbroker, and gunsinternational. The ones I've found are all going for at least $600 - and a lot more! I know online auctions are not a true indicator of value, but unless someone has some to sell for less, online is all we have sometimes.
