The CS45 is the only 3rd gen pistol that I have had to............work, to love. And the reason is its OEM Hogue rubber grips. They make the CS45 thicker, chunkier, unfomfortable IWB and cause it to be less than the concealeable tiny 45 it was meant to be. If I had never owned or handled the original 6 round mag 4513TSW I might have been more satisfied with the CS45.
But there is hope and an alternative to the Hogue grips. Member TercGen has taken up the production of cut down 45 Delrin grips that were pioneered by my friend Big Dog. And he makes an EXCELLENT product. The fit and finish is perfect. The gun looks factory with the TercGen grips on.
And it carries securely and comfortably. And the pistol is controllable and not unpleasant to shoot. But later today I will add a rubber grip sleeve to the TercGen grip. Only because I still find the factory Delrins a bit slippery. Especially if your hand is wet or sweaty. And the uncheckered CS45 frontstrap is too smooth, for me. The grip sleeve will
cure those last two complaints about the CS45.
I have attached two pics of my CS45 wearing its new TercGen grips. My friend has turned my CS45 from a sidelined pistol that I was debating selling into a primary EDC. He has restored my affection for this fine, reliable, accurate little 45.
It now stays put IWB and does not grab covering garments or get pulled up out of the holster by a jacket. And it is going to see a lot of carry time and some more shooting over the miserably hot and humid NC summer.
Thank you again TercGen!! I appreciate your talent and craftsmanship! Your grips are definitely 18DAI approved!
Best regards, 18DAI
