S&W 459 Magazine for Camp Carbine?
I have a Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine. I read that it uses the same magazine as a S&W 59 or 459. Is that true? Are the differences between S&W and Marlin magazines that prevent interchangeability?
What's the reputation of the S&W 459? Worth buying used or NIB?
How about later S&W pistols, such as the 659 or 5906. Same magazine?

Yes, Marlin chose that magazine style. 59,459, or 5906 even the shorter magazines 669 should work. I had one years ago. The one that came with it was a 10 round Marlin mag.

59. 459, all good but the last iteration. the 5906 is the most ergonomic of the three generations. Combined with the camp carbine you would have a great plinking set up, useful for self defense too.

The 59 and 459 (and 559 and 659) used a 14-round magazine with a metal baseplate. The 5906, 5903, 915 and all other variations of the full size double stack 3rd Gen 9mm pistols used the newer 15-round version of this magazine, now wearing a plastic base plate.
All of these AND the aftermarket Mec-Gar magazines will fit and work properly in the Marlin Camp Carbine and also the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 carbines that are configured for the S&W magazine.
The Mec-Gar magazines work just as well as the S&W factory magazines and Mec-Gar also made 20-round magazines that work great too.

I have a Camp 9 and I want to say it came with a 12 rounder with a 6906-ish baseplate and a 20 rounder but I would have to check to be sure. They are definitely not S&W marked mags.
Edit: The twelve rounder may actually be a blued factory Smith mag if such a thing exists. No markings, and numbering just like my 6946 mags. The twenty rounder says Marlin on the baseplate.

I have S&W and Marlin marked 20rd magazines. I thought they were neat.

I wish those Camp Carbines weren't quite so pricey and unavailable. Over the last 10 years, the couple I saw at gun shows were way too expensive for what they are.

After reading this thread I looked some up on Gun Broker. I was like nope, can build a 9mm AR that takes Glock mags for less.
