6906 Magazine Makers
I purchased a couple blued magazines today advertised as being for a 669. They look just like my 6946 mags except for being blued, having two holes instead of 5, no numbers, and no letter "S". Also found a blued mag in my cache with five holes and the numbers, but no "S", no idea where that one came from. Were there aftermarket makes of the 12 round mags, or only the factory? Thanks

Yes there were aftermarket manufacturers of 12 round blue mags for 669/69XX series pistols.

To my knowledge S&W has not manufactured magazines for quite a few quite a few years, they contract with several other manufacturers. The most common S&W "Factory" magazines are manufactured by Mec-Gar,So if you want a "Factory" S&W magazines just buy a Mec-Gar, or from sellers like Greg Cote. Mec-Gar also sells direct.

If I recall correctly I have 3 varieties of magazines for my 69xx series pistols. The first and most common is the silver one with the S on the side. The second and third are blued with no S or other SW marking - and I believe they match your description, one with 2 holes and one with 5. They came with 6944 and 6904 pistols I purchased used and after posting pictures here, the consensus was they were original SW magazines.

Thanks for that, seems to confirm what I'm seeing. I forgot to mention the difference in the mag catch hole that one of the posters in the other thread observed. Next time I have them out I'll take them apart and look at the springs. I may have a Camp Carbine twelve rounder laying around as well.
