Hello forum members, my recently purchased equipment is S&W Model 2206, with 4.5 barrels, adjustable sight, 1 magazine of 12 rounds. After the first shoots, I estimate that it is quite accurate;)
I had read everything I could find on the internet before. From what I read here on the forum, I conclude that my copy was produced in the years 1990-93, maybe even until 1992. I am considering this limit of 1992 due to regulations in the USA - the 12-round magazine was supposedly banned.
My S&W 2206 pistol has the number VAH 5125, marked Houlton, Main, CTG - I have determined that it has been 100% in Polish hands since 1998. What was with him before? I saw that VAH 5100 was recently sold in Poland - Pistolet S&W mod.2206 kal. 22Lr - Broń palna, pistolety, rewolwery - AtenaGun.pl
Do the experts here on the forum know about any delivery of this model to Central Europe in the 90s of the previous century? Mine could be in the same box as the one from the attached link :-)
If you have any information, I would be grateful.
This is my first S&W and I'm curious about its history.
I greet all shooting enthusiasts.
Marek

Welcome back
because I managed to gather a little more information since the previous post, I will add here - maybe someone will find this knowledge useful.
And so I spoke to the owner of the S&W M2206 with the number VAH5126, which is 1 higher than mine. Bought by him as new in 1994, in Poland.
Here on the forum I found two entries of the owners of the equipment marked VADxxxx - both gave the year of production 1993, one even its exact date VAD1xxx from October 11, 1993. There is no information, however, which S&W models.
In addition, from the user @Brassmonkey on the brother forum of S & W- mithandwessonforums.com-, I was informed that on the basis of several published books, including the Standard Catologue of Smith and Wesson, the barrel 4.5 was withdrawn from the model 2206 at the end of 1993. so user @Brassmonkey suspects (90%) that my gun is most likely manufactured in October-December 1993.
All in all, if the alphabetical order or alpha numbering system was maintained at S&W, my VAH5125 was derived from those with VAD xxxx numbers and actually dates back to the end of 1993. :-)
I wonder how many copies came to Poland then, because American weapons in the 1990s were difficult to buy. I found these extreme numbers from VAH5100 to VAH5126, MY GUN number VAH5125 between them :)
In January 2022, after the moratorium on inquiries is over, I will try to write to the S&W factory asking how many of the 2206 were shipped to Central Europe at the time. Maybe they will answer - then I will share this knowledge :)
Unless someone from the forum members has some information and wants to share it earlier?
I greet all shooting enthusiasts,
Marek

Thanks, @Old Cop.
You probably have a lot of S&W- me just this one...
I'm always looking for as much information as possible about my "toys" but I never thought they would lead me to a different, distant continent ;)

A great series of pistols(422/622/2213/2214/2206)

I like the S&W 2206, though I swapped the 6" version several years ago. I have two 622's left and my son has his limited edition brushed nickel 2214 I bought him when he was five years old.
