Hi all,

Local shop has what I believe to be a brushed nickel 469. From the limited research I’ve done, it’s a rare gun. Other than yellow front sight and TAC/TAB prefix, is there anything I should look for? What’s current value for one without box but in good shape. Asking $499 out the door. Thanks!

I don't know about "rare" but $499 for a 469 (IF it's in good shape, of course) is a good-to-great deal these days. I personally would buy at that price right away and I'm not even in the market for a 2d Gen semi!

Fair price is going to depend upon your geographic location. In states or localities that limit magazine capacity or have a list of approved firearms, $499 for such a piece would be a good price. Outside of those areas, consider the 6904/6906 are actually better pistols than the 469/669.

Decades ago, it was not too uncommon for the owner of a blued handgun to send it off for an aftermarket plating to make it corrosion resistant. Refinished firearms are generally worth less than the same firearm with its original finish. The one you are looking at might be one of the Ashland pistols, but without documentation to prove it, it might be a refinish.

The Nickel ones look really nice in my opinion and not often seen. I wouldn't hesitate a bit at that current asking price. Take care.

I have 2 469's and 2 669's . For a short barrel , mine are accurate at least to 20 yards , where I usually shoot them . I was surprised the first time I shot them , by both the triggers and accuracy . One of mine is the brushed nickel , I picked it up 2-3 years ago for $300 , but it was missing a safety lever . By todays prices I would consider it a buy . The important thing is , are you happy ? If so , buy it . Mags are easy to come by , but hope it has at least the 2 it came with .
