Looks pretty mint and a great price too! Have seen the CS series usually going for in the $600 range.

I just needed to add, nice find and for at a very reasonable price.

I didn’t follow the TDS two tone CS40’s, (or even like them,) until I got one a couple years ago. I was just looking for a dedicated CS40 instead of running a complete top end on my CS45. (Yep I listen & learn from JohnHL.) I wanted a high condition CS40 for a low price and the two tone came up.

Are they any more rare then the other TDA’s CS’s? Some say they are. I don’t know but they don’t show up that often. Especially in perfect shape. NOS magazines are out there and can be acquired for realistic prices.

Great job in finding and getting that CS40.

Nice find! :)

I just found one last month by surprise a LGS.

Liking it so far.

You probably won't be needing to service it any time soon but I posted some related info about them & part numbers in my thread, in case you do in the future.

(Which reminds me I need to update my thread with some recoil spring testing I did.)

CS40 added to the collection (other content added)

This is the first CS in any caliber that I have ever seen. There are just some S&W models that, in my immediate area, I never see. I would like to get another mag or two for it, since this one just came with the one. There was one on eBay for $67. Don't know if that is a reasonable price for one or not.

I can't say if that's a reasonable price, but is likely what you are going to see them going for, if not more.

Unlike some other 3rd Gen guns I'm pretty sure that the magazines for the CS40 are unique to that gun. S&W doesn't support the CS40 at all, so you're going to need to hunt around for magazines. Fortunately, some of the small parts are common across various models of 3rd Gens.

If you're going to shoot that more than just a little, try to find a recoil spring since it's a wear part and a good recoil spring protects the frame.

To OP - Great find on condition and price.

I believe you are correct on the mags - as far as I can tell they are unique to the CS40 - and contrary to a previous post, I have not found any new magazines still out there, particularly at a reasonable price. If you can get one at or below $60 grab it.

Biggest problem I have found - and I have 3 CS40, Blue, Silver, and Two-tone - is complete unavailability of the recoil springs which I believe are common to CS45 but different from CS9 or any other SW third generation pistol.

I did a quick search on MidwayUSA and it appears that all of the parts they list for the CS40 are common to either the Value Line guns or other 40 3rd Gens.

I found one NIP CS40 magazine and I think it's the one that the OP mentioned.

It's probably going to be a matter of haunting gun shows and searching frequently on line until one just pops up.

Which is getting to be the routine with most 3rd Gen magazines.

I've had my two-tone CS40 for about 10 years now, it's in pretty good shape and is a pleasure to shoot.

I've accumulated a decent supply of parts for it as they rarely become available; things like recoil springs, guide rods, mag release nut and spring, and mag springs.

I have a saved search on eBay for CS40 magazines that produces a hit or two every so often, enough that I have accumulated 8 mags, some in new condition, for between $35 and $65. I passed on a couple already this month, I'm only buying if it's a very good price.

It came with the stock grips, but I was lucky to get a set of the original Big Dog grips for it.
